I had this problem, it was usually triggered by overhead work and heavy front squats. Turned out to be both wrist inflexibility and over dependence on the arms to maintain the overhead position. The solution was, of course, to lock out properly and to stretch the wrists.

I believe it's to do with physiology. Some people are better at the lunge jerk and some are better at the squat jerk.

If he thinks that was a jerk, he needs more help than I realised. That was a full push press. Aside from the rack (elbows up, not under like you would in a press), it wasn't bad for a push press. But it wasn't a jerk.

The hang clean needs to less like a deadlift lockout and more like an actual clean. Get some legs into it rather than just bending at the hip and banging it up

I'm coming back from an injury, I just came out of juggernaut method to get back into it (I had to completely stop for a few months, not much left). My squats are still pretty bad though and my flexibility needs work, so I'm thinking of going into a squat intensive workout for the next few weeks. I was thinking of squatting every single day of the week, with both light days and heavy days obviously. Is there a good program that incorporates that and that could build my weightlifting technique back up before really getting into it again?

Roids.

I'd do a lower/upper split 4x a week. Clean & Jerk first thing on lower days, Snatch first thing on upper days.

e.g.

Lower:
Clean & Jerk: Singles or whatever
Front Squat 5x5 or 3-4x6-8
RDL 2-3x6-8 (this is reduced volume because deep squats already work the glutes/hamstrings a lot)
Leg Press/Leg Ext./Split Squat/Even back squat 2-3x10-12
Leg Curl (can do RDL again if you want) 2-3x10-12 (or reduce volume to 1-2 if doing ATG back squats or deep leg press, I'm assuming split squats will be quad dominant)
Calf work
Abs/lower back work

Upper you can set up something like this:
Snatch: Doubles or whatever
Bench Press 3-4x6-8
Row 3-4x6-8
Incline Bench/Shoulder press 2-3x10-12
Pulldown/Chinup/Pullup 2-3x10-12

you can switch the order of the first 2 and last 2 (as well as rep range), also feel free to replace any 3-4x6-8 with 5x5. This may be better for an Oly lifting focus:

Press 5x5
Chin/Pulldown 3-4x6-8
Bench/Incline Bench 2-3x10-12
Row 2-3x10-12

You can also toss in an isolation move or two after those compounds for the side delt, rear delt, and upper chest.

Also, you do arm work at the end of upper body. Biceps/Triceps 2-3x10-12 or 1-2x12-15

Also, once you've got the groove of the competition lifts, you can (and it may be wise) to only do the full lifts on the first 2 days of the week, and replace them with power variants or something on the other 2 days.

This is just a variant of Lyle McDonald's generic bulking routine for oly lifting (he advocates this).

If you actually want to do this read his stuff on the routine beforehand, specifically about the deload/runup.

You could also do 5/3/1, which is a lower/upper split. Set it up the same way with the competition lifts. Clean+Jerk and variants on lower day, Snatch and variants on upper body day.

Hey /owg/. I'm not into oly lifting, just general strength training. For various reasons I decided to switch from low bar squat to high bar squat. I worked on my mobility really well in order to comfortably hit ATG if needed, at least in oly shoes. What I can't figure out is where to put the bar on my back. The shelf in the low bar squat is really easy to find after the first couple of times and the bar stays secure but I can't find the shelf on top of my traps (and they 're definitely not underdeveloped). I went to do some test sets today, My shoulders were right beneath the bar but the bar kept rolling up and down especially in the hole. Also my wrists were killing my, they were obviously supporting the weight while they shouldn't be. How do I find the proper spot?

As far as maintaining lower body fat, my own experience has been that I just cannot put weight on when I'm intensively training the classics. When I first started lifting I dropped about 20lbs in just over a month. And this was after having put on close to 60lbs of lean body mass over the previous 5 years. It was alarming at the time, but I hadn't realized yet how 'energy intensive' weightlifting actually was.

I'm the same height as Ilya and honestly I have no idea how he is able to maintain his weight class, and even repeatedly GO UP and remain competitive. Even with drug supplementation, he has to be eating non-stop.

Where is the bar resting on your traps? It should rest below your C7 process (that big jutting bone at the base of your neck) on the of your upper traps.

If your weight is shifting at any point during the lift, the bar will follow the path of least resistance, and it might be pressing or rubbing against any and all sorts of things. That is a very nerve dense region of the body.
