These are training maxes, I've hit them for doubles. I train in a gym that does not allow the weights to be dropped from overhead, even on accident, so I do not go as heavy as I know I can. I don't want to post numbers I haven't actually hit, though.

If you lack the mobility to get into the bottom position comfortably or at all, then yes, do power snatch into overhead squat complexes, going as low as you can with the ohs and trying to get lower each session. If you have the mobility, train the full squat snatch.

As for frequency, more is better when learning a new movement.

How should I deal with a bad day training?

I was tired before I begun, and program asked for 4x4 work sets of snatches at 75% and 4x4 hang cleans at 75%

I missed 2-3 of each lift (re-did reps to get 4x4 work) and everything felt nasty especially snatches where the last few I had to hang onto too much for the weight it is

Shall I just put it down to 'one of those days' and move on, and only worry if this becomes regular? Last week was a good week for example.

I'm a beginner, about 5-6minths

Based off maxes, I dont think my technique is rotten, altho in the snatch I have a tendency to power a bit especially when tired

I have group coaching 1-2 times a week which isn't perfect but better than nothing. I also try to get to a gym with 2 national team coaches once a week and while its very casual they watch us lift when they can.

I think I'll lower the % like you mention if I have a bad training again tomorrow, I'm putting it mostly down to work/a weekend with a bit too much partying but I'll see if that's the case

I also have started keeping a training log and noting down when things feel good and bad in an effort to learn more

I'm still around, got caught up with a grill, and school. Scar tissue in my hip has been acting up and locking my hip up so had to take a break from liftan.
I haven't been on OWG or 4chan in general for a while.

Got back in the groove today WL wise. Took a light day worked up to around 95 for a few singles. went for 102, hip got locked up, had to fuck around before I could get up and walk again. oh well. Squats were more or less the same, worked 6x3 light at 125, and paused singles to 140. sn pulls ended with 102.

you may think that, but having a coach DOES help an incredible amount. its your time your money, do what you want at the end of the day. not telling you to get a coach, or continue self teaching, but you will find yourself in situations where you can't figure out why you're failing lifts, and having an eye to help you out is an incredibly valuable resource.

There is one qualified coach in my area, and he splits his time between here and his other gym 300 miles away. He is completely jaded, and cares nothing for the athletes under him. His time is also absurdly expensive.

I do not disagree that a coach would be valuable, but you do not need one to get started, and a bad or negligent coach is worse than no coach. If I had held my breath for a decent, affordable coach to come to my area and agree to train me, I would have passed out and hit my head on something, doing unknowable harm to my brain and bringing me that much closer to durkz in tens of mental capacity. Fuck that. I just lift.

I don't intentionally do this, and at this point I can feel a tightness in my hips. Above parallel its not there, and below this sticking point it's not there

The key to getting lifts right is focus.
Focus on what youre supposed to do and do iit

Before you jerk, think about what you have to do(break at hips, not knees. Head through, not to deep or too shallow of a dip) and you'll get it right.

break at both hips and knees. keep torso as vertical as you can. when you dip, dip only enough to feel stretch reflex take effect. when you jerk it up, focus on jerking it UP not out.

push press will force you to do a vertical push.
try some btn jerks as well.
if you want to get more consistent. Jerk, re rack, and jerk again.

Ok, really wanna do Oly lifting (not into powerlifting although I do the powerlifts). I've been doing power cleans for quite a while. I do presses and front squats. I should probably really introduce jerks soon. And I want to start doing snatches, I plan to slowly introduce them by starting to do overhead squats and get used to supporting heavy weights overhead.

I'm also getting oly shoes, I was going to get Adidas Powerlift IIs but I heard some things about how they wear down the the heel isn't all that hard, so I actually am going to get some Romaelos. Money isn't really a problem especially considering they'll last a long long time.

The problem is I train in a commercial gym, no bumper plates. Am I kinda screwed for doing heavy jerks and snatches (and even cleans really...)? I dunno, I'm not gonna be and pussy and do them anyway. But I can't really max out, can I?

Well, I'm not looking for help writing a program. I'm looking for help choosing a program. If you read my post in plg (concerning training philosophy in a lot of norwegian clubs) you see that she's getting handed a standard 12 week volume block, when she has been lifting for barely 10 months. She's asking me for help, as she's apparently not getting any due to her training not wanting her moving from geared to raw lifting (which she really wants).

She's about 62kg, lifts 110/75/120 raw. She wants to drop down to 57kg, and compete raw.
I'm looking for an intermediate program suited for her wants.

To be honest, I have zero clue about existing intermediate programs, I'm too much in a bubble with my recent stuff (I was 10 months in like 8 years ago I think). Anything low variation and at least 2 squats per week, I guess. Fixed progression probably better than autoregulation. 10 months is still pretty early on (nice lifts though). I can't really be of any help here though, I'd just be guessing blind.

Isn't the geared Norwegian stuff mostly raw until peaking anyway? I'd be unethical enough to pretend I was doing geared and just focus on the raw prep work, at least for a while. You can't beat quality coaching in person. I don't know much about the training there though, to be fair.
