I personally quit gym about 3 months ago and since then i only 500 push-ups, 100 pull ups and 100 dips every day/ And gain more muscles than from going to gym for 1 and half year.

Id also know one guy who waste in jail 6 months. He said that people there just do thousand reps of bodyweight exercises and make decent gains.
>>
>>35304895
The best way to win that hyper trophy is to do multiple sets of multiple reps in the 60-80% range of you 1RM. Can you get gains from heavy singles? Sure. Can you get gains from knocking out rep after rep after rep with low weights? Sure. But the first strategy is the one that works best for most people.

OP is right. Keep in mind that the modenr powerlfiting approach of "sets of 5" is very recent and doesn't really work, as we all should know by now.

The funny thing is people will tell you that "volume training only works for roid heads" when it's their abbreviated training that only works for juicers.
>>
>>35304895
If you are fighter then, yes, this kind of training will work for you. But if your goal is to gain muscles, then just do simple brosplit
>>
>>35305400
There's a large difference between knocking out sets of 50-100. and doing sets of 15. And no powerlifter does ONLY sets in the 10+ range. It's always a mix of volume and intensity.

And if you talk about modern powerlifting approaches, powerlifters are a lot stronger today than yesterday. And the routine de jour is high volume.

what does this mean ???
>>
>>35304895
We've known for decades that hypertrophy is the mass builder. I got a buddy that doesn't curl over 35 lbs but has insane biceps because he does 10X10 and does a pause-squeeze at the top.

How is this news?

Ebin Shitpost.
Two of the most popular programs featuring the "recent powerlifting" approach are Bill Starrs and Reg Parks programs.
Starr was a weightlifter/strength coach and Park a bodybuilder.
Both programs are older than 40 years and have produced thousands of people strong enough to curl your ass.

Volume is for the most part all that matters

But I think what's ideal for growth is some volume with heavier weights (like 5 to 8 rep sets), followed by higher rep sets at a similar volume (maybe 8 to 12 reps, could go as high as 15 even).

You can of course go even lower in reps for strength and do plenty of other things. But I can agree what's most important is progressing in weights in a moderate rep range (5 to 15 reps let's say), and adequate volume is very important too.

also, IMO volume > frequency. I'm not saying go out and brosplit, do 100 total reps per muscle group once a week (I think maybe like ~60 reps or a bit higher total per muscle 2x a week or once every 5th day is a very good aproach), but the brosplit is probably better for growth than going into the gym 4x a week and ramping up to a max single or something strange like. E.g. 100lbs 10x10 is probably better for growth than 55lbs x 5, 100lbs x 5, 125 lbs x 3, 150lbs x 1 or something equally low volume, even though both are silly and suboptimal for growth.

correct.
now what is volume?

sets x reps x weight.

what is the easiest way to get the MOST volume in the least amount of time?

increase the weight, so the setsxreps is relatively low, so you can get an effective work out in 45 minutes time, instead of taking 3 hours to get the same volume in, because you need 90 sets of 100 reps just to make up for the difference in volume.

if you don't mind lifting all day, every day, then by all means, lift baby weights.

if you want maximum hypertrophy in minimum time frames, heavy weight is going to be what you are after.

>>35304931
you can get decent legs with plyometrics and explosive pistol squats.

its best to at least have two heavy dumbbells when you do your pistols, though
>>
>>35307885
3x5x100 = 1500

3x8x80 = 1920, with less rest time needed in between

Your argument is shit.

Yup. Do a moderate rep exercise or two, and a high rep exercise or two for each muscle group, get the best of both.

Typically you want carbs and protein an hour before your workout, and immediately after.
>>
>>35308529
Just eat a proper mixed meal. Fat, protein, carbs. Milk or chocolate milk is a very good beverage for that. Chicken and rice isn't bad either (if bulking, go for some fattier chicken).

The whole dextrose and whey and BCAA thing is silly. Just eat a mixed meal an hour or two before hitting the gym, maybe some basic carbs before workout (dextrose, candy, fruit, berries, whatever) and then a mixed meal again after.
