I can only squat lmao1plate

Am i really bad? I use my legs alot for running too and they need time to heal, all of you claim to lift 3plates and i just fail to believe everybody here does this, so it must be a meme right?

i know people are probably stronger than me but come on 3 plates normally? thats 140kg?
>>
>>35126347
Either eat more or stop running and focus on 5x5 90% of people who lift while on a caloric surplus should hit 3pl8 squats within a year. That's being incredibly generous and if you seriously train it shouldn't take more than four months to hit 3pl8s
>>
5 plates in 2 years desu senpai
>>
I squat 3 plates for reps and I don't think it's that impressive it's average
>>
Give it time and don't be afraid to eat a lot. I went from 115lbsx8 - 225x6 in a month just by eating more and squatting more. Keep in mind this is as a competitive cyclist who has had a knee injury for a year and already had one surgery. I'm pretty certain I'd have 280lbsx5 in 2 or 3 more months but I've got another surgery coming up (last one before I get back to riding competitively.) so I won't get a chance to see.. Going to miss weightlifting after I recover from the surgery.

3 plate squat is a meme.

I'm not saying it's impossible or even difficult but out of the 1/2/3/4 stats it's the least common. Every guy who's not a skeleton/manlet at my gym can bench 225 but I've seen maybe 10 guys (out of hundreds of regulars) who can squat 315.
>>
>>35126347

Yes people here e-stat like crazy. Go to any gym and very few people will lift really heavy weight, even big guys.

What do you expect, this is like a dick measuring forum. The 6" dicks will claim 8" and so on, don't be fooled.
>>
I can't even squat 1pl8 man. Weak ankle mobility, back, core, balance. Still barely can even do the other lifts properly with skelly weights. I just rationalize that any weight is better than nothing.
>>
>>35126347

And you probably won't listen, but dont even bother with squats. Its just a troll, it really is. Will not offer any gains you can't get from safer exercises and will hold you back from leg gains because your back is the weak link. Don't bother with squats unless you want to be a powerlifter, if all you want is to look good never do a squat in your life again. Very dangerous exercise that have crippled many people who just wanted to look good.
>>
>>35126479
Yeah, you can't really expect much more from a Siberian sewing community.

I fucking hate squats. I trained 5x5 for a couple months and hit 2pl8 and then blew out my lower back. I've watched at least 50 form videos, I'm just a faggot with squats. Now I just run a lot and do upper body only and I still make great aesthetic gains. My legs are already pretty big in proportion to my body so I don't need them looking any bigger than they already are
>>
2 years + at a very busy 24 hours and maybe 12 people have ever thrown 3plates or more on the squat rack. And most of them did half reps. So I would say that out of several hundred different squatters, only 3 of them have done a proper depth squat with 3 plates.

w/e bro. I've been seeing a chiropractor for this shit, it isn't a joke. its right where my lower back muscles connect to my tailbone or w/e, on the right side. Shit hurts when I get out of bed, when I put on socks/shoes standing up, when I sit down for too long, when I stand with perfect posture for too long, etc. And I am 23, shit is fucked. th-thanks /fit/
>>
>>35126474
Tbh I've seen the opposite. Me and my buds who lift can all hit 3pl8 on squats or close to it for a one rep max but none of us can hit 2 pl8 on bench, although I have one friend who is very close. And only one out of my 3 lifting friends can OHP 1 pl8 for reps. We're all short torso long limb guys and all fairly tall, shortest lifting friend is about 5'10 the rest of us are 6'0 or taller.

It has a lot to do with body type. Most guys just aren't built right.

3pl8 isn't that much for a guy like me.
>>
>>35126917
it's not "estatting". people in public gyms just train wrong and/or don't squat much. a 3 plate squat is easy to achieve if you follow a good program. people on /fit/ should know what programs are good.
>>
>>35126474
This has been my experience as well
>>
>>35126347

3pl8 is a lot, but you should DEFINITELY be able to squat 1.5pl8. Personally I am literally anorexic and I squat 92.5kg for 5 reps.

To "easily" achieve a 3 plate squat you literally have to follow a t-rex troll program for 6 months and get fat.

I see nothing that says otherwise.

Like I said I barely ever see someone squat 315 at my gym. A lot of the big dudes squat 225, maybe 275. /fit/ says that's babbyweight but apparently you can get big legs squatting lmao2pl8 so idc. Form and high reps>weight
>>
>>35126347
It bother's me that he's stopped at false parallel.

It is lots of e-statters. The meme hive decided on what counts as a believable lie and told itself that until it seemed like the standard.

I'm sure plenty of them actually do go to gyms frequented by power lifters and 3 or 4 plates seems like average though.

But let's see, at a healthy body fat, 1.5 times your body weight is considered adequate progress for someone that's been lifting for a year, even if they're also doing other training. So unless you're minuscule, you have work to do. c'mon man.
>>
>>35126347
my back is fucky ever since a injury in high school where I was taught quarter squats were proper, so now I don't go too much above 1 pl8. Although deadlifts just over 4pl8
>>
>>35127230
>To "easily" achieve a 3 plate squat you literally have to follow a t-rex troll program for 6 months and get fat.
or you could join any powerlifting and oly lifting gym and follow their program.

>>35127253
that would be ideal, but you don't have to understand anything to reach a 3pl8 squat. merely following a good routine is enough.
>>
>>35127299

SS wont give you a 3pl8 squat or make you fat if you do it properly. Its a BEGINNERS PROGRAM. you are not supposed to do it for more than 6 months, and SS wont carry you to 3pl8 in only 3 months. Its not *that* good.
>>
>>35127353
>SS wont give you a 3pl8 squat
3pl8 for 3x5 is average progress if you're a young, healthy guy. I'm pretty damn average myself and still reached 148kg 3x5 at the end of SS.
>>
>>35127299
wha? dude i was able to 1rm 225 as a freshman in high school and i had literally never squatted before in my life

315 is considered an intermediate squat level
>>
>>35127338
>But let's see, at a healthy body fat, 1.5 times your body weight is considered adequate progress for someone that's been lifting for a year,
a 90kg squat at a BW of 60kg is not "adequate progress" after a full year of lifting.

I got 315 after 6 months for a single and stopped giving a fuck about it. I did it while losing and maintaining weight so 315 for reps aint impossible it even hard, theres just no reason to for the average person. Youd get more conventionally attractive results by focusing on bench or curls or something
>>
>>35126347
I see a lot of guys half squatting 3 plates with a belt and knee sleeves but very few going ass-to-grass with high bar squats.

Half squats at 3 plates are very achievable for men under 80kg within a year.

Full squats are another story, and could take at least another 6-12 months to achieve.

OP, you're weak as fuck, but most of the guys you see squatting 3 plates are weak as fuck also because they're shortchanging a good 10-12 inches of range, which inflates their numbers

Low bar squats are less useful for athletics, I don't care what you say.

High bar squats create more hip flexor and VMO activation which are respectively very important in turnover rate and starting power for sprints and jumps.

Low bar squats mainly make you better at low bar squats. There are lots of other glute and hamstring dominant movements that are at least as effective as low bar squats and are less taxing on the body.

Squats and other freeweight exercises are a meme that /fit/ uses to trick newbies into getting injured. There is literally no reason to not use machines these days. They target muscles better, are safer and more controlled. The whole shit about freeweights being better was started by hipsters who like how bodybuilding was done in the 40s, that's it.

Use the machines, don't get injured, enjoy your gains.
