TM is good, at least for a couple months until you figure out what other direction you might possibly want to go.

Dietmar or Sheiko. Anything that's not high frequency, high volume style training is a troll made by steroid users or retarded murrifats

Im confused. It seems like I either hear that TM is really good or that its shit and that it would be better to do something like what

>>35080074

>>
>>35080086
TM is good, it gives fast progress. What it doesn't give is volume tolerance which you'll need long term, but you could just do TM and then move on to higher volume. Or go higher volume right away
>>
>>35080074
Link Dietmar pogroms pls

>>35080086
It's not shit, it's the perfect advanced noob -> intermediate transition program. It needs some modification for bench and you should do more than just 1x5 deadlifts once a week but it's a good program.
>>
If I pull Sumo for (3-day) TM on ID for a set of five, should I just do some 3x5 volume sumo DLs on VD?

I want something that will have good carryover to sumo diddly but Im not sure that something like SLDLs does?
>>

No, they're state secrets.
>>
>>35080138
Sounds fine. You could do deficits, paused, or just regular pulls from the floor at a lower RPE.

>>35080141
Start off with the 5x5 for VD, do something like Spoto or incline for 3x10 on RD, and do some (still heavy) back off sets on ID. When you start to stall, move to 6x5 VD. When you stall again, do 3x5 closegrip at the end of either your VD or ID session.

Fresh off the boat, from /stg/, kid? heh I remember when I was just like you. Braindead. Lemme give you a tip so you can make it in this cyber sanctuary: never make jokes like that. You got no reputation here, you got no name, you got jackshit here. It's survival of the fittest and you ain't gonna survive long on /plg/ by saying stupid jokes that your little hugbox cuntsucking "strength training" friends would upboat. None of that here. You don't pray. You don't report. This ain't /fit/, kid. This is /plg/. We have REAL intellectual discussion, something I don't think you're all that familiar with. You don't like it, you can hit the bricks on over to /stg/, you daily show watching son of a bitch. I hope you don't tho. I hope you stay here and learn our ways. Things are different here, unlike any other place that the light of internet pop culture reaches. You can be anything here. Me ? heh, I'm a judge.. this place…. this place has a lot to offer… heh you'll see, kid . . . that is if you can handle it…

>>35080495
Sure but I did my squat at 8% body fat.
>>
>>35080520
and they did higher weighted squats without steroids at a lower bodyweight
>>
>>35080520
body fat % is not relevant in PL
>>
>>35080515
PEDs add 10% strength, knee wraps add maybe 10 pounds max
504 crew is taking over
>>
>>35080535
Knee wraps can add more than 80lbs
Steroids contributed to 90% of your total

basically your one rep max would be 100lbs if you didnt use steroids or wraps

sorry bud but you're literally the weakest person here

Anyway...
What are your thoughts on high-frequency, auto-regulated types of training, /plg/? I hear of people just rolling into the gym and doing the same lift for a rep max five days per week and making solid gains pretty quickly, but I'm unsure of the sustainability of such a method.
Has anyone done this for extended periods of time (more than a couple of months)?
>>
>>35080476
Again, you're 'okay' and on roids. Blow your 10% out of your ass, that figure is relevant at the very top end of the game where people worked for years to gain the size and strength they have, natty or otherwise.
>>
>>35080478
You're a 12 year old tbf, and this board is for health and fitness discussion. You guys banted way to hard and this is the consequence.
>>
>>35080545
This isn't true, I bench 400 raw as well I did that at 218 body weight accomplished in less than 17 years of lifting

Neat. I know it's autoregulated, so you can't really get super specific with it, but what did the programming look like? Did you have an overarching periodization to it?
>>
>>35080638
And you shouldn't"5 feel better about it, steroids barely make a dif probably chunky just desu
>>
>>35080607
So why aren't you Dan Green or Eric Lilliebridge? And let's say it is 10%. A 450 (high) squat at 237 is just 'decent' and not something to act like hot shit over. That's the reason people are jumping down your throat.
>>
>>35080652
Water bloat I'm 5% here. Just lost a lot of mass.
>>
>>35080661
>Did you have an overarching periodization to it?
Nope, and if I were to do it again I'd do it as another 3ish month block after a more hypertrophy/volume oriented phase. I did what pretty much all the Perryman/Nuckols stuff says: DM, one to three back off doubles or triples most days. The Nuckols point about improving your daily minimum rather than focusing on your daily max is something I kind of intuited on my own eventually but it's really the key to the whole thing.

>>
>>35080750
>how the hell is 400@218 good
You're retarded.

400 is really hard to hit.

Most powerlifters will never get 400
>>
>>35080731
Yeah, some curls, some hamstring curls, pullups, chest-supported rows, standard cuff stuff. Front squats once in a blue moon, deadlift singles twice a week usually. Almost always just comp squat and bench.
>>
>>35080774
Your talking about me and the lift was 418 before I got injured I was only on 500 mg test plus ai when I hit lift
>>
>>35080592
Bort you've been lifting far longer than me. That was more than not having knee sleeves or pwo or anything related to knurling. Seriously just look at that fucking knee travel at the start of it.

It doesn't have anything to do with what you just posted. You probably just zoned out and lost focus.

>>35080782
I suspect 400 is achievable in 3-6 years training
>>
>>35080782
Most powerlifters aren't on roids and use knee wraps, kid. ;)

>>
Are there any high frequency / highish volume programs for beginners. I hate lifting just 3 days a week and 3x5 is boring as fuck as well.
>>
>>35080831
an easy way to settle this is to post your wilks. if your wilks as a roided, wrapped lifter is lower than a significant number of natural, raw lifters, then you aren't among the best lifters here.
>>
>>35080774
Our crew trains hard as hell and tries to do the best we can, not use why we got attacked on the forums but whatever so be it. We will win Arnold's in 5 years so no worries. Haha
>>

Hit 90% of bench 1rm for 4, that was cool. Gonna up volume on both soon because I'm keeping my head above water as is, and I'm gonna be able to eat better and sleep more now.

Eh, from a powerlifting and strength perspective, the PTs at my gym are just awful. But I think a lot of the kids on /fit/ get really tied up in their own goals (getting shredded, getting /plg/ strong) and don't empathize with the fact that these PTs are mostly there to help the forty year old woman who is coming into the gym for the first time, or the thirteen year old boy who just wants to curl forever, or the yoga mom who wants to impress her friends at the next wine dinner.

We all have our own goals in life and in fitness, so I try to never look down on the PTs; they just can't really help me.

Remember kids, always treat everyone in your gym with kindness and respect.

Unless they're doing stupid bullshit in the powercage, then give them the whats up.

I hurt my lower back today. It doesn't seem too bad (no pain when I'm sitting, standing, etc), but if I do something like go through the motions of a deadlift without any weight, I feel lower back pain.

I'm pretty sure what did it was barbell rows. I think my arch is excessive. I also didn't do any other exercises today that would stress the lower back.

I'm gonna work on correcting my barbell row form next time I do it, but for now, is there anything I can do to help recovery?

Your front squat is 81 percent of your back squat.

For most powerlifters, 70 percent is good.

This probably means that your back squat has some form concerns that are limiting how much strength you can demonstrate.

deadlift is a hip hinge primary movement
high bar squats are not
they'll 'carry over' in as much as strengthening your legs will improve your deadlift, similar to how people think front squats improve their deadlift start position because of quads

With FS, its often as much the upper back as the quads (especially if you're pausing or boxing it). Same reason the SSB gets the job done better than highbar squatting, despite being very close in terms of how quad-dominant it is.
>>
>>35084908

Thanks for the help m8. Always value your input.
>>
>>35084916

yeah that's certainly true. Though if you wanted to simply strengthen the upper back it would be way more efficient to just use rows. Using front squats is good as a technique primer on how to appropriately brace your upper back despite having no scapular retraction as a primary movement IMO

if stuff is on topic more often I'll swing by but it was getting to the point where out of 300 posts there'd be maybe 3 that weren't personal abuse
>>
>>35084972

The janitors have been really good lately about cleaning things up, and I think it was just a handful of bad eggs really dicking things up here.

Hopefully it's good enough you can swing by more often.

Are squat-mornings a technique problem or a muscle thing?

I haven't really been thinking about keeping my hips going up or pushing my back into the bar. I can still progress in weight and have previously difficult weights be done with good form, but my heaviest working sets always end up looking shitty.
>>
>>35085040

could be both, but most low bar resembles a squat morning if it's heavy. Could just be shitty levers too

if your front squat is <<< back squat (like less than 80% and definitely less than 70%), may be a strength problem

Sorry I took so long to reply, showered and I'm making my late-night oaties. This is the most recent vid I have, but to me my squat seems fine.

I'm definitely leaning coming out of the hole, it's not the kind of bent back from low-bar that stays at the same angle throughout. I always go about half the way up bent and very grindy, then at a certain point straighten my back and easily complete the rep, if that sheds any more light
>>
>>35085085
how tall are you
>>
>>35085040

I've decided that squat morning and butt wink are no longer problems we should concern ourselves with.

Be free from that anxiety friend.

I'm only being partially srs btw, excessive squat morning can be indicative of a myriad of problems, my squat morning was completely fixed by Chris Duffin's squat video (technique) but there's really no way of knowing until you diagnose the problem yourself.
>>
>>35085103

not really, that's kind of the typical squat morning grinder problem. You can minimize it by strengthening quads and core, and maybe by changing form a little more. I mean, look at Layne Norton - dude basically squat mornings from bottom to top - it's possible to own it by compensating in small ways
>>
>>35085103

Even if this happens only under heavy load, that could simply be indicative of a lack of control under stress. It's probably safest to assume that it's both a technique AND strength problem. Add some accessories you feel would aid in keeping your torso solid, but also give Duffin's squat vid a watch, and see if it helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5zrloYWwxw

my squat morning problems were almost instantly fixed my fixing ankle mobility. im squatting high bar tho

how the fuck do I break through my 145lb bench plateau? This is getting ridiclious.
>>
>>35085534
you know the answer. eat more bench more. why do curl bros often have decent benches? because they do a ton of upper body volume
>>
>>35085534
What are you currently doing for bench?

>>35085481
Do you know any lads at newcastle? My American uni has an exchange program there and it's really my only option, because I don't speak Italian.

How's your diet, and have you already tried deloading and working back up?
>>
>>35085858
i refuse to believe that someone whos benching 65kg needs a deload.
>eat more, especially carbs before training
>perfect your technique
>up the volume while keeping reps perfect
>dont fail reps in the gym
>>
>>35085534
Are you still around? I was stuck at around 52.5kg to 55kg bench for a good 4 or more months.
I recently broke my plateau and Dan now bench 62.5kg for 5. Not much more but only broke the plateau around two weeks ago.

All that changed was programming and form.
I started an intermediate program so I only progress 2.5kg a week, as ripperoe once said, 2.5lbs a week on the bench press adds up over time to a huge bench press.

Also form, I learnt leg drive and reduced my bar ROM.
Read the Bench specialisation manual by Jason Ferruggia

It was recommended to me and one of the best books I've read pn bench press.

You're not alone.

Norse squats high bar like a boss.

Buda is high bar too (kinda hybrid).

Do the squat that you are comfy with.

>why do curl bros often have decent benches? because they do a ton of upper body volume

AND because they do a variety of upper body volume.

That means bodybuilding your BACK as well.

Powerlifers do tons of bench, but stall often (especially the newer lifters or skinnier guys).

Press around 3x per week, and one of those days should be overhead, incline, or db pressing. Do tons of rowing (match your pressing).
