Theoretical is very rarely 100% accurate. The numbers I'm listing are guidelines intended to tell a lifter what to work on. If a lifter snatches 70% of their back squat, strength work is needed. If they snatch 50%, technique is needed. If they snatch 60-65%, you shouldnt have a particular training focus outside normal periodization.

Not actually sure what the issue could be, which is concerning, but I feel a lot better now that I took a few weeks off from all lower body lifting. Haven't had knee pain since I got back into lifting a week ago, actually, which is great. P90X, with dumbbell clean and jerks. Do this for 8 months at minimum. Eat 100-300 calories below your TDEE so your muscle confusion adapts to olympic movements. But be careful, if you eat less than 300 calories below your TDEE you might go into starvation mode and end up fat. when the weight gets heavier than ~110kg i always pull the far forward and lose it, any drill i can do? doing a lot of clean pulls and hang clean atm but i'm not sure if it's the right thing to do. my coach suggest technique work with sub 60% weight but my form is on point ( decent at least) when i clean sub 100kg weight( i can pretty much power clean them)

To offer a countering opinion, I really suggest not doing this program. I really don't like Bulgarian style programming in general, but I think its especially inappropriate for beginners. In the listed program, the lack of pulling work or serious repetition work in going to be really detrimental to muscular development and technique development.

The ideal would be to get a coach to teach you the lifts. Having a strength background cause cause people to really try and muscle up the lifts with their upper body and lower back. The shouldn't happen in a proper snatch or clean. If you can't do this, running that month long Catalyst Athletics beginner program (even though it isnt my favorite, kinda iffy about beginners doing power snatch/clean) a few times is a good place to start while still keeping up strength work, and you're more than welcome to add some bench and other vanity work in. Really getting technique down first is essential though. I'd say learn technique where it says to do the classics and do the rest of the program as written until you're confident that you can demonstrate good technique.

With that said you dont have to do the bulgarian method to bench and do that classics. I just recommend it. Also initially you should really hit mobility hard.

In his case the muscular development is probably ok, but doing pulls with weights greater than 100% of the snatch or clean has huge value, and I think it should be programmed in as assiduously as the squat. They serve to develop strength, proper movement patterns, and confidence when pulling on a maximal weight.

Keep in mind that the classic snatch/clean/squat program was only implemented by elite lifters who already had a huge base in Russian style training when the bulgarians were actually good.

i have a 160kg x2 dead. mobility is ok i've been working on deep squats having deloaded 20+ kg. also been practicing snatch for 3 months and can do 60kg.

if you actually want to do the classics, do the classics. Do an actual weightlifting routine, and do volume bench instead of other typical tricep hypertrophy like dips 2-3 times a week. WL has bodybuilding in it.

Make sure you put it behind your head not just straight up, the torokhtiy vid mentions this I think but make sure you internally rotate at the top you can see it very clearly if you watch people warm up with the bar hook grip and atg has those vids
