The human body, natty or not, is very incapable of assimilating protein into muscle mass. The overwhelming majority of protein people on high protein diets eat goes to waste either by being broken down and flushed out through the kidneys or stored as fat.

One thing the body is good at is picking and choosing amino acids from "incomplete" protein sources like vegetables. As long as you eat a wide array of foods, your body gets what it needs to thrive even though you're eating "low" protein.

Depends on the time of year. When plants are fruiting they'll get lots of carbs from the fruits and what have you and not so much protein. Outside of this the diet is predominantly leaves and shit, which while being predominantly fibre is predominantly protein out of what we primates can actually digest.

Yet, Dr. Schendel kept tellin me that the RDA for protein is .36 grams per pund of bodyweight. Thus, at that time at a body weight of 215lbs., my protein requirement was 77 grams per day.

The results of the study proved that Dr. Schendel was right, and that RDA was accurate. Most of the protein I was eating was being broken down and excreted through my kidneys."

We do need a certain amount of protein just for like maintenance, but there are mechanisms the body uses to recycle old proteins when times are lean. There is no research out there that supports this or that you could misread amd think it does. There's some research that says fat cell numbers are roughly maintained from end of puberty throughout adulthood. All this means is that you roughly stay at the same amount of fat mass in general. If you lose weight and keep it off you end up with less and the opposite is also true.

This says it doesn't ever increase or decrease tho. Now you can take your particular interpretation, but imo when I consider that catching certain illnesses, certain stressor and certain changes in diet can increase or decrease adipogenesis (so replacement of fat cells in cell turnover p much, with a decrease leading to fewer cells overall and an increase to more), I'd say the underlying reason for the lack of change is down to lack of long term lifestyle changes.


That aside, it still doesn't say an increase in fat mass increases fat cell number permanently
