Take a look at this guy. He got to these numbers in about 7 months. Most people can do better on the deadlift than he did because he didn't do his cleans, and they help a novice's deadlift.

Your bench is retardedly strong compared to everything else. I don't know when you started but I went from squatting 135 to 230 in my first month of SS.

Make sure you have microplates for bench, power cleans, and The Press.

You stop running SS when you've been going to the gym consistently, adding the proper weight to each lift, eating correctly, sleeping correctly, resting long enough between sets (6 minutes at least), and you've stalled 2 or 3 times.

I bulked hard from 157 to 180 since July and saw a pic of me fishing and thought my face looked fat and have since then slowed it down.
>>34943811
I was doing Reg Parks and had like 190 x 5 on pendlay rows. I'm giving power cleans a shot.
>>
>>34943827
My squat has been climbing with no end in sight. That pic looks close to my goal body.
>>
Yo
It's always a good idea to START in the gym with SS?'m planning to do that. Some say its bullshit, some say it's a great thing.
I don't say shit because i'm still learning
>>
>>34943827
fake
>>
FWIW in about 5 months of SS I had:

225x5x2 bench
385x5 squat
405x3 deadlift
155x5 press

linear progression works but only if you give it everything you have.
>>
>>34944151
You don't think 7 months of training will give you those results?
>>
>>34943681
You should run SS until your lifts aren't pathetic. Your dl and squat are dyel and I don't understand how you can clean less than a plate if you're not also in a fucking wheelchair
>>
>>34944287
The bench went up a little quick imho

Trippppz
>>
>>34944322
I just started and don't want to designated shitting street my shit up so I've been doing lightweight on power clean.
>>
>>34944387
Squat heavier and add some back accessory work to clean day. Low rows and lat pulldowns, 3*8 after the compounds are done. You basically have one real day and one light day rn

>>34944417
See but then I wouldn't be doing the program.
>>
>>34944448
That's stupid, rippletits indicates in SS that adding accessory work is a no brainer. Do it after you have already done the compounds
>>
>>34944718
But doesn't it also say that the compounds shouldn't be added in immediately as they can hinder progress on the main lifts?
>>
>>34944718
>My program is 3x/week barbell training until the strength gains produced by linear progression are exhausted. That's it, the whole program. Adding a bunch of other stuff in, or even adding a little other stuff in makes it NOT MY PROGRAM, because it fundamentally alters your response to the stress. Do what you want, of course, but it won't be my program if you do it your way.

You do it until you stop linear progression and try a few deloads. There is no universal stopping point for everybody. When you can't keep progressing steadily you switch up the program. Also, be sure to add accessories to your routine, that shit is important for aesthetics, as well as injury prevention.

I did SS for probably about 6 months before switching to a version of TM. I've never not done a powerlifting routine built around the big 3.

>>34944760
>compounds shouldn't be added

The compounds are the main lifts. I think you're confused on what accessory lifts are.
>>
>>34944760
It says that they shouldn't be added in if they hinder the main lifts, but does not assume that they will. It sorta depends on whether or not the person is a true beginner. If they are a skele and they've never done anything athletic before then the accessories will probably be too much to think about.
>>
>>34944794
Whoops meant accessory exercises.

>try SS
>skelly but bulking, 500 cal surplus for a month
>still can't progress any of my lifts

literally fucking end my life blud
>>
>>34944794

You look good, man. What accessories did you add to ss? Did you do the cleans? I was thinking of adding a bunch of curls and stuff in but I dunno if the volume will bury me. Rippetoe says to do chins every other session 3 sets to failure, but only after a month or so into the program iirc.
>>
>>34943681

>How long should I run SS?

Never, cardio kills gains.
>>
>>34944908
>500 cal surplus for a month

there's your problem

it's basically in line with what is recommended in SS for the average man

add 5lbs to your bench every workout for the first 2-4 weeks, and 2.5lbs every workout after that. and some guys can take a few 10lbs jumps in the first few workouts. let's assume he didn't, and he added 25lbs to his bench the first month, and 15lbs every month after that (progress would be a bit faster than that because i'm going by progress every 4 weeks, not a month)

it adds up to 270lbs over 7 months, from his starting point of 155lbs
