i really love frozen peas and carrots

they are delicious

also how do you cook fresh broccoli

I prefer the taste of frozen broccoli to fresh, but frozen broccoli weight is mostly from the stalk which kind of sucks

I pour a 14oz bag of frozen florets into a bowl, put saran rap over that shit, and microwave it for 7.5 minutes. Comes out perfect five servings of greens just like that. Discovered this a few days ago and I could probably do this forever.

Steam it peasant. Holds in all dem nutrients and goodness. Also, boil it, throw it in blender, pour in same water you boiled it with, blend it up into a puree/soup style, add couple cloves of garlic, perhaps a sprig of mint, chill that shit, serve it up cold/hot whatevs you want. bulking? Melt mozarella/cheedar mix into it.

I made this soup, reheated it, poured some into a clay cooking pot, threw in some sliced french baguette, sliced onion, then topped it with a bunch of mozarella ontop, then threw it into the oven for about half an hour (dont remember temp, just watch the cheese really) and pulled it out. it was this weird, yet fucking amazing and delicious french onion soup. Green french onion soup? You what? splash of heavy cream at the end/dollop of sour cream for dat mega richness after you open up a hole through dat cheese.

http://www.who.int/dietphysicalactivity/fruit/en/
http://www.wcrf.org/int/research-we-fund/cancer-prevention-recommendations/plant-foods

World Health Organization and the World Cancer Research Fund recommend atleast 400-600 grams a day of fruits and vegetables, but also to get a variety. Half a pound of broccoli is good for a meal, and try to have a similar amount of different green vegetables with each meal. Snack on oranges, kiwis, plums, berries, etc to get your fruits in. Simp as a chimp.

Not sure where he gets off, but...

Boiling leeches the micronutrients, they disperse in the water. This still happens while steaming, though, same difference, just that steaming uses less water. If you're worried about it, drink it.

Not sure why he's hating on microwaving, but I figure it's because he's from the 60s and thinks microwaves will give you radiation poisoning.
Microwaving does not break down micronutrients notably more than any other manner of heating food.

I cook my broccoli in a steamer basket. Just takes 7 or so minutes in the steam produced by boiling water (with a lid on) and the broccoli is nice and soft but not so soft it falls apart. Feel free to add lemon zest, lemon juice, S&P, and/or poppy seeds if you like.

Fresh broccoli is miles better than frozen broccoli. Believe me you can taste the difference, it's like night and day. I can't stand the taste of frozen broccoli since I'm used to the fresh kind. It's like the difference between frozen pre-made burger patties and fresh ground beef patties.

Making broccoli soup is another great option. Check out this recipe on youtube:

Asparagus is incredibly nutrient dense. It's actually better than broccoli in terms of providing antioxidants and vitamins. However, it's about twice or three times as expensive than broccoli. See pic related.

If you want lots of antioxidants and micronutrients, eat lots of asparagus. I typically go for ~250 g of green vegetables with each meal and that takes a lot of asparagus spears or a large crown of broccoli.
