Opinions on this routine, /fit/?

Pic unrelated.

dumbbell only routines will get you decent gains if you're a beginner, but using them is not comparable to using a barbell.

"dumbbell deadlifts", for example, are more of a squat than a deadlift and are NOT a replacement.

that being said, not gonna discourage you from trying.
>>
>>31985024
What's wrong with it?
>>31985109
Well, I am a beginner (the only exercise I normally do is running). This won't set me up for some kind of failure eventually (like getting me into bad habits), will it?

hey man, i followed the exact routine you posted.

i made very slow gains, in general i think dumbell exercises are the slowest to progress.

i wanted to workout at home so i decided to invest in a barbell, a squat rack, bench and some weights. i made more games with a barbell routine. fuck this dumbells shit, theyre only good for accessory lifts.

It's like you don't even want spiritual gains

Most of their fans/users own a healthy collection of fedoras, srs.

As for the routine, it'll get you your babby gains but after 3 or 4 months you'll need to move to barbells.
>>
>>31985447
Not op, but they do have some pretty fedora tier users. Still not a bad site I'll read an article or watch a youtube vid every so often

>A collective of sad sacks looking to the past for answers to why they can't move forward
>mistaking good intentions and wishful thinking for progress
>going all in on a gimmick blog who's goal is to increase page views.

Nothing wrong at all. To some people, the idea that they are improving is more important than actually improving.
>>
>>31985447
But for the first three months, is it a good start? I'm starting to work out because I just finished losing a lot of weight, and I'm trying to fill myself in (because I look ridiculous with small arms now).

It'll get the job done but the sooner you move onto a real gym the better
>>

Just do a normal workout program at low weight and focus on proper form.

These all dumbbell programs are mostly for those who only have access to dumbbells. If you have access to barbells, then use them. The most important part of lifting for beginners is developing proper form and a workable routine.

Also, go easy on the euphoric "manliness" blogs. Be your own person

dumbells should not be used for everything but if your doing it for aesthetics then go ahead just mind you that deadlifts are out of the question.

Hey OP!

Did you ever wonder who these bastions of manliness are? What are their goals? Who do they answer to?

Is the art of manliness centered on the unquestioned obedience to a narrow set of rules and actions? Or is it about personal responsibility, development, and independent thinking?

So many questions...

Dumbbells are absolutely fucking SIK. Just hate hauling them over from the rack. When you're lifting heavier weights it's like doing the Atlas Stones strongman race. Plus preparing them is a real pain...

Prefer them to the bar on almost everything except skullcrushers and leg work though. I think the bar works better for biceps.

I too forever cringe at this website because of this guy

Example off the top of my head.

DB will use generally slightly higher reps than barbell work.

5x6-8 reps will work fine throughout. 1-3 min rest periods are adequate.

Frequency should roughly be twice a week for each movement type.

movement types with example exercises:
quad dominant (BSS)
hip dominant (split stand RDL)
vertical push (standing OHP)
vertical pull (pullup)
horizontal push (floor press)
horizontal pull (row)

Extra work can be added in for weak points, hypetrophy, prehab etc. Dips, band pull aparts, face pulls, lateral raises and even arm curls will all be useful on such a routine.

This is one of the first routines I ever tried.

I went from a 225lbs 5'10 fatlet to 170 using his exact routine. Most of the exercises used are pretty simple to understand and great for a beginner. He throws in a lot of isometrics which made it a little boring after it became a regular thing for me. I eventually switched routines though because it wasn't providing the muscle growth I was looking for.
