Médiéval looking boot best places for finding them ?

thevikingstore.co.uk has a footwear section, I think its mainly costume stuff but you might still find something you like, there's quite a few medieval larp stores that you might find helpful
>>
>>9357
are the meme boots worth getting?
>>
>>9360
Yeah I'd say so, only paid £23 for mine and I'd say they're well worth it, I'd recommend you get a newer pair than mine which would still only be about £35. But I would definitely recommend them even if you do get some like mine, they're well built solid and only slightly less comfortable than most of my other boots (removed squeaky insole they came with)
>>
>>9361
cool, thanks. where do you think is the best place to order them?

i see some on ebay for like $46.50 plus 12 dollar shipping but that seems a little steep to me

I'm in the uk, got mine from a seller on ebay, asking as you're using PayPal for the payment though its pretty easy to get your money back and on eBay its even easier as eBay always side with the person buying the goods, quite a lot of places online went out of stock shortly after I got mine (at the height of the memeing) but there are hundreds of milsurp websites its just a pain to search through them all

Ivan who occasionally posts here has a website called commandostore.com and his boots look to be in really good shape (apparently shipping is a bit pricey though)

there's always brick and mortar milsurp stores so just look for some near you because unless its some sort of tacticool store appealing to edgy 14 year olds they'll usually be quite a bit cheaper than the online sellers

its kommandostore.com

>ISHYGDDT
What did he mean by this

I reccomend people don't buy doctor martens and if you choose to believe me I was the original solovair shill over a year ago now.

The racing green ones are from the 80s when they were still mie and they were £25 anyway so amazing value and would've been worth it just for the slightly different design (slimmer boot, tunnel eyelets) even if they were chinkshit, the black 1460s were 50% off and they were my first pair of boots but i didn't know to avoid them back then. The industrials are actually pretty decent boots, and I got the 1914s for the height and iconic look (skinhead) but they do seem to be much better quality than my other China docs and have the comfiest footbed out of any shoes I've ever worn, the leather isn't quite as good as my solovairs but its not far off.

Doesn't it make you look kind of effeminate? or is it not that bad?

I'd assume leg/torso proportions accounts for not making you look stupid doing so as a guy, too
>>
>>9377
Forgot to say, I don't wear them with skin tight jeans, more of a slim fit to straight leg and bag them out over the top a tiny bit, gives it a more masculine baby jackboot sort of look

I've seen some guys wearing them with like you said, slim fit (def. not skin tight lmao) completely tucked in with no crevice/bag over the top and it looked great on them, though they were all tall, not sure if it would look that good on somewhat that's 5'11" like me. we will see though! cant wait to get my meme boots in the mail

Can you still get them or similar? The thing I liked that I didn't see in cheaper boots was the slim/tapered shape especially the toe box (is there name for this?).

>>9392
Nah m80, pretty much any leather boots without zips, its not like a black mannequin situation that all boots with zips are terrible its just that zips 'neuter' the boots theyre on because either you don't lace them as tight as they should be in order to make zipping easier or you lace them as tight as they should be but the added stress on the zip causes them to fail quicker. And to be fair they do look pretty shitty most of the time
>>
>>9365
Why are Docs considered meme boots? I've been considering getting some 1940s and don't want to waste my money
>>
>>9397
Nearly everyone has a pair so theyre common AF
They accidentally ruined their image with their punk skinhead mod 'stand for something' advertising campaign which was jumped on by sjws
Every single pairs RRP is £40 too high

The 1940s was discontinued at the same time as quite a lot of their other skinhead (and to a lesser extent 'punk') suitable boots so if you do get a pair its likely no warranty.
Don't let what other think dictate what you wear though, if you want some then get some, I would personally lean more towards a pair of grinders which are available with and without the aircushion sole

Those are the boots I was talking about, really good for the price, slightly different design I know, if you want something closer to the 1940s then solovair make 14i steels with the exact same design however these will likely be ~£175 +-25 as theyre made in england but will be much better quality than the actual 1940s

On the left is the new boots I bought from All Saints; fuckin comfiest boots I've ever worn, they fit perfectly, and they add 2 inches to my manlet height. Really happy with them.

Boots on the right are the ones I'm replacing; got em at Nordstroms for a song but they are falling apart.

I cleaned and conditioned the All Saints with Kiwi Mink Oil which darkened them nicely and weatherproofed them. Didn't know you were supposed to do that, glad I know now.

How often should I be conditioning them? I've seen everything from weekly to monthly to once a year.
>>
>>9404
I don't condition my boot, just polish them regularly instead. You don't actually need to condition them at all as long as you still give them some sort of treatment, I'd say twice a year though once after spring and once after autumn

Different boots look better with different trousers you'll have to experiment for the most part. Work boots usually look better with the trousers tucked in and most other boots look better cuffed.

Trousers which are worn with boots should be slim fit though, being tight on the calves. None of this stretch denim stuff though otherwise your boots will look overly clunky. So try and match the width of your boots with the width of your trousers

I've tried on an older model (picr) and it had much firmer leather, felt kind of like british docs. These feel more like asian ones desu
>>
>>9474
How's the sizing of Solovairs (pref with steel-toes) compared to Taiwan-made 1490s? I'd love a pair of 14i-steel-toed ones and by just measuring the insole I have and inside the boot tells me that I should go with size 9UK. Should I be aware of steel-toe taking up more space than just a regular toe-cap.
>>
>>9465
I've never been able to tie my timbs like that with og laces, where the fuck do I get a larger pair
>>
>>9431

I also love Ricks combat boots but the current ones have those over sized pull taps and studs etc.

how do i wear docs/solos without going full skinhead, but at the same time without looking like a fuckboi thats jumping on the meme?
>>

Steel toe caps I find actually give you more space in the end of the boot Im a uk9 in doctor martens and in solovairs.

>>9488
Stick with black jeans and you'll be fine
>>
>>9415
If you pay less then full retail you are a lucky guy. Will probably pay full retail AW17.
>>
>>9357
Is the stitching on your Solovairs yellow? Don't really like how the stitching stands out but on yours it looks good/worn
>>
>>9374
How much did you spend on these? I'm looking at some for £130. Do you know anywhere that does them cheaper?

Are these austrian paras?

Yeah I use a pair for work, here's some protips

Take the leather inner sole out, its more then likely they'll be squeaky as fuck, also if you work around oily or wet surfaces your fucked because they suddenly have zero friction when you move around in it.
>>
>>9491
Yeah yellow stitching, it dulls down very quickly just from normal wear/accidentally rubbing a bit of polish on them, you can change the colours or replenish them a bit by rubbing a crayon across them like I have done with the 14i cherries

Opinion on biker boots?
>>
>>9489
What about cargo pants?
>>
>>9497
heinous imo
look like weird fetish shit. Idk maybe in some very rare cases they look good but i think as a general rule
1: avoid chelsea boots
2: avoid biker boots
>>
btw the current solovairs all have white stitching - docs lawyers made them change it and they had a little whine about but i think it looks better
>>
>>9495

yeah m8, got them for 34 quid on ebay, chuffed with that tbqh. Thanks for the tip

hello, not shit. Not allowed to post opinions? Is this germany?
>>
>>9498
Hmm, depends on the colour of your boots, if they're black you're okay but if they're red you have to be more careful with the colours, I can't imagine red boots working with cargo trousers but even if it did, avoid anything that looks too militaristic, black is a safe pick here

>>9500
I don't like it as much on the black boots but like >>9496 says white stitching would be even easier to change
>>
>>9470
I've been eyeing the exact same boots. How do they feel in terms of sizing? Should I go up, down or just order my regular size.

Thinking about these, $25 + 12.50. Would be worn with pants over

I bought the Austrian meme boots a size too big and kommandostore sold out of my size by the time I got around to reordering. Feels bad man. Lots on ebay but they're all UK sellers. Otherwise I like them, they're more understated than most other old school combat boots I've seen.

Are Lucchese boots worth the money? Pretty deep discount via retail training.
>>
>>9470
Which exact solovairs are these?
>>
>>9507
Sorry anon, you spooked me into buying them. That seller only had the one pair and nothing similar.

Found them on ebay. There are several other used pairs listed by other sellers. Looks like the model name is "fort lewis". It also specified them to be 200g, not sure if that's unique to this model or if they make their models in different weights.
>>
>>9509
is this a form of subtle trolling? you must know htese are far removed from the aesthetic favored here, go to a cowboy forum or something
>>
>>9427
these look gr8, id please?
>>
>>9470
these will be the next /fa/ meme
>>
>>9512
I've not come to /fa/ for a while not, but back then western wear was discussed here. I just say a boot thread so I thought I'd ask. Hell, the second post is a question about western/cowboy boots.

Lucchese also doesn't just make western wear, they also have english style riding boots as well and more subtle western style, not just exoctic leather western wear.

If you don't actually know anything about the brand, that's fine, but don't make assumptions and then tell me to fuck off to somewhere else in a fucking general boot thread.
>>
>>9503
I wear a pair of dark oxblood solovairs, they're not that red imo, as for the cargo colour, theyre mostly dark grey with very slight green

Your opinions are shit and you are faggot. Only a faggot sees black combat boots and thinks "school shooter" because he spent his whole life sheltered in suburbia and hearing about scary autists on tv gunning down their classmates. Meanwhile, most normal people see them and think "oh, those are for soldiers". Christ dude, just kill yourself.

You need to put Dubbin on them, especially the creases. This happens when the leather gets too dry.

Personally I think cowboy boots would look better but military boots wouldn't look too bad either. Definitely go with black for both. Justin's for the cowboy boots and Danner's for the military style.
