the tongue is long because its a soccer shoe, its meant to help you kick. they're options without a long tongue or you could always cut them.

They're indoor soccer shoes, OP. They're made for kicking a fucking ball. With your foot. What do you think the fucking tongue is for? It adds a little protection to your metatarsals and ankle.

You can get the adidas originals version of this shoe that has the shorter tongue. Otherwise it looks the same except for the sole. The one in the pic has rubber soles which are brown with a red/purple tint to them. The adidas originals one has a regular gum sole color. Both are about the same price, but the kind in the pic can often be found with discounts. I bought the short tongue version from Nordstrom and price matched it with the long tongue version from Dicks Sporting goods.

The OG Samba has a much shorter tongue (and has a slimmer nose if I remember correctly). I own a white pair and love em. Goes pretty much with everything and is very comfortable.
