It's always bugged me how clocks sometimes use one or the other. This prompted me to look into it.

The only solar+thermometer watches I know of are the Casio Pro Trek line.

If you're willing to give up on solar, look at Suunto or Garmin. Also be aware that watch thermometers are useless when you're actually wearing the watch, you have to take it off and let it sit away from your body heat for a while before it'll read the actual outside temp. (Or get a Garmin and their little wireless accessory thermometer that you can clip to your pack or wherever.)

I can't pick a watch. I just want something that's clean and nice that I can use different nato straps with. 100m water resistant. Preferably not automatic, I've heard they lose time and break easy. I'm absolutely in love with this 18 carat, rose gold TAG Heuer Carrera watch purchased from the beautiful city of Perth. Made with sapphire infused glass that only diamond can scratch, I've spoiled myself with this gorgeous timepiece. The calibre 16 movement has been crowned as the most successful automatic chronograph movement ever produced, completely handmade by man. It is also my very first day date watch and it will be interesting to see if it becomes an important feature that Will depend on over time. I hope you all enjoy this watch as much as I do.

What's the consensus on soviet watches? I imagine some of the submariner ones are pretty sought after but I'm talking about them generally, from the cheapest ones on up. Some of them look pretty nice and you can't argue with the prices. I'm just looking for something to replace my £6 casio where the plastic lug finally snapped on me.

Also how safe/genuine are the ones listed on places like ebay and etsy? They're cheap as chips so I'm not worried about getting scammed but if I'm going to buy something like a soviet watch, I'd rather it be genuine.

Sorry if this question gets asked a lot I've never been into this general before and rarely come onto /fa/.

Aaaaay lamo. Just get an Invicta if you want a 1:1 submariner clone so badly.

Some of them have seagull movements, which is nice. Some of them come without any branding (pic related), which is also nice. However they almost exclusively make 1:1 clones and most of them come with generic japanese automatic movements, plastic crystal, and everything else you would expect from a sub 100 bucks watch brand. Too bad they usually cost much more than what they're worth. Liv Morris is the same company, just a different name. They have one watch that is alright at a fair price, with sapphire crystal and seagull movement, but again it's a Stowa clone.

depends on your preference. I see so many subs on old dudes every day, it killed my want for one. I live in a more affluent area and the sub (while a great quality watch) has become the "Look at me, I have money" watch of choice.

I love Seiko and recommend the marine master. Its a little taller and maybe not great for every day every situation, but I really love it. If you are one watch person, get the sub, its more versatile and well known, but it does get you attention (either good or bad). The MM300 will get passed over by 99% of people, which I like.

The round markers and hands are covered in glow in the dark paint, making them bigger makes them more visible in the dark. The Submariner and Marinemaster are diving watches, they were originally meant for the practical purpose of being durable, water resistant, and easy to read especially in the dark.

In ref rolex air king, true it is the most mundane rolex, but I find that's what draws me more to it when I pull it out as opposed to others. It's understated to the point most people don't identify it as a rolex at first glance on the wrist. And thanks to its size it works well enough in a suit, able to effortlessly glide under the sleeve when needed or is perfectly at home in jeans and a t shirt.
