On the right he lost a ton of weight for the role, no facial hair and wasn't out in the sun probably at all so he's pale. And certainly not a pleasing facial expression.
On the left he's ripped, healthy, groomed beard, tanned skin. The standard "cool" facial expression.

Also both photos are made with different cameras and different lenses so the head shape changes/distorts depending on what lens you use.
