I like them but I guess it depends on you as a person. I wear a thin silver necklace and never above shirt. You might think there's no purpose but it's still visible at the neckline.

idk, worn a necklace for ~10 years now, probably longer and I've never gotten any comments about it. But then again I don't keep it on top of my shirt, always hidden unless it accidentally slips out.
