I recently bought my first pair of real boots (iron rangers) and wanted a bit of clarification and reassuring.
I tried a medium size on and found it was way too tight and crushed my pinky toe, so therefore I tried a wide size which was much better. (I fall right in between a medium and wide on the brannock measurement).
My concern is that after wearing them for a couple of days I don't have any of the break in feels that people descrbe. All I have is some minor heel slip and sore heels from the hard cork sole. Other than that they feel fine. No excessive tightness. Been wearing them all day to break in.
Is my sizing right? A bit of heel slip is fine to break into correct? Other than that they're fine until they soften up.
Help please
Get a sole insert either full or heel retard.

the other guy is dumb. You don't need an insert, the heel will settle and sole will soften. If in two weeks they're still hard, get an insole.

yeah try and persevere for now as suggested by >>12536802, they should soften on their own and likely become the comfiest shoes you own.

You should have got them one full size down from your sneaker size, did you?
I had some terrible heel slippage with my boots until I started tying them like this https://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/locklacing.htm
Super comfy now.
