Bermuda shorts are cool in a retro way. The plaid ones.

I'd personally look into H&M and J. Crew (including J. Crew factory store). Both have pretty good selections out currently. Lots of lengths, colors, materials, and fits to choose from. Bought a pair of 5" inseam shorts from j crew a couple weeks ago, absolutely love them. Hope to be wearing them for at least a couple years.
