I was just thinking, is buying expensive clothes really as stupid as outsiders want us to think? I mean, what you're buying is usually quality and when you're done with it you can sell it for a little under what you originally bought it for. It seems more logical to buy a $100 tee shirt when you think about it like that. It may even be smarter than buying a shitty made in China tee shirt for $5-20 bucks depending on how you look at it.

bying t-shirts was your first problem
after you get to around $50 t-shirts there's no way the quality is getting any better to a noticeable degree. i admit i own some $400-500 t-shirts but that's because i liked the graphic. it is not smarter to pay $100 for a t-shirt if you're basing it off quality though.

"it seems more logical to buy a $100 tee shirt" stopped reading right there
Will you shut the fuck up about "rubban penis" or whatever this shit is?
I'm not really big on paying a ton for shirts, unless it's a special shirt like, say, a double-layer T from Tricky.
With items like boots, leather jackets/jackets, blazers, coats: I think those things have their expensive worth, DEPENDING ON the brand.
Sometimes you're paying for the name, other times you're paying for the craftsmanship.

this. it's only about quality up to a certain point.

depends on what the fabric is, and where the shirt is being made
i just paid 22/yd for merino wool jersey, which would probably be between 9 and 12/yd wholesale
so per my current price, i'm spending $55 on just fabric
handling everything on my own, but if i were to use los angeles contractors
a cheap cutter is $12/hr, probably half an hour to cut
a cheap sewer is also $12/hr, 45 min to sew
materials and labor the tee is $70
basic wholesale markup is $140
basic retail markup is $280

This. But it also just depends what's important to you. Branding and lifestyle is just as important as quality to people. You just want to find a good mix of both. Paying for good quality, and a little extra for good branding.

I've been periodically laughing at this post for roughly five minutes

it's not stupid if it makes you happy
>I was just thinking, is buying expensive clothes really as stupid as outsiders want us to think?
No its not alot of people spend the same amount of money but its distributed because quantity>quality
>It seems more logical to buy a $100 tee shirt
Pointless. Spend money on sweaters etc where it actually matters

>Paying for good quality
yes

>and a little extra for good branding
nope, no branding is best branding
