How is the laptop compartment?

I recently bought pic related, but it's a bit large, and there are no spots for pens/pencils, little compartments for phone, business cards, etc. and the slot for a laptop is horribly inconvenient if you have to take it out at the airport.

I don't need something so big, and it's not very elegant, though the buffalo leather is very soft, with nice grain.

Going to sell it and will likely get the more proper briefcase
