Besides losing weight I'd just say he should wear streetwear and outerwear.

He's a CS guy and 29 so I assume he has a decent job.

Tell him to wear like Supreme hoodies and nice sneakers like Jordan 1s or any kind of Adidas really, as Adidas is almost insufferably trendy right now.

Besides that kind of style he might consider higher end outwear like Northface and shit.

With a decent CS job and just dressing like that he should be able to get a Chinese gf like no problem.
