My H&M chinos of 2 years have developed a couple of rips. One above the right knee and one just to the right of the left back pocket.

Seeing as I'm a tight fuck and don't want to buy another pair for £20 I'm consider having an odds and ends woman take one of the back pockets and patch them up with it.

Good idea or will it look retarded?

As somebody who often tailors his clothing I can tell you that this would cost you around 10-20 pounds to do this. Normaly stuff like make pants skinnier or shorter are cheap, tailoring waist is more expensive, but what you want takes huge amount of time and may destroy item anyway.
>tl;dr something like this isn't worth it, for high-end stuff it may destory it, for cheaper stuff it will cost around the price of a new garment

Taking the pocket out and stitiching it over the rip will destroy it? Is that because of the way chino fabric is made?

Anyways this is a local lady who I doubt will charge anything near even £10 to do it.

But it still lefts some rips from your description. Lightly ripped jeans are okay, but ripped pants/chinos look hobo-esque af. I mean, just don't eat for like 3 days and get a new pair. 20 pounds isn't that much. Still better than runing around in ripped pants signalising everyone "I'm too poor for even H&M. In England."

Theyed be all fixed up with patches though.

Dunno, I'm in Scotland so I'm probably more likely to get jumped with patched up trousers than tatty ones. Wearing khakis is risqué enough. Never mind patches that look like a fashion statement.Would probably just use them for working/going out walking.
