Half of my older family smokes, and the non-smokers aren't doing any better health-wise than they are, and I noticed that the elderly non-smokers in my family seem to end up with dementia while the smokers don't. You don't necessarily have an eating disorder from restricting calories, you have an eating disorder if it is consuming your thoughts enough to fuck with your daily life and possibly bring you physical harm.

And even that is a loose definition, because you kind of HAVE to be thinking about food a lot in daily life, you need food to live, so planning your meals and such could barely be construed as disordered behavior. I want to get skinny (only average weight at the moment, aiming for a tolerable 17ish BMI) but I also do it because I care about my health, I go to the gym and have a lot of fruit, veggies, and water, and even fasting isn't necessarily disordered (unless gone on for too long). You have to be the one to decide if you ultimately feel like you have an ED, maybe talk to a therapist. But it's kind of tough to sift through just normal dieting and restricting vs. an ED.

Yeah it is, you just need to eat your TDEE for your weight and height and you shouldn't have a problem; that is if your metabolism isn't completely fucked from starvation. If you've been starving for a long time, as you up your intake your body will try to gain as much weight as possible to make up for the loss, and you'll gain as a result My bmi is 16.1 and I maintain off of 900-1200 cals even though my TDEE is 1600. I could up my intake by a couple hundred cals if exercised, but I'm a lazy piece of shit, so.

Idrk I'm just speaking from personal experience. I just know that back when I was dieting I would eat like max 500 cals a day for months, then when I tried eating a bit more like 1000 I'd gain like shit. I think it depends more on activity levels. I'm sedentary so I don't have the luxury of eating a ton, but I know skelly's that exercise can eat quite a bit because they'll just burn it all off anyway

I can't deny some people here are unhealthy (the Binge/Purge crowd, the anorexics) but that not the entire thread. Hi thinspo, could you guys help me out with something?

I've been following the low calorie food diet and I was also taking Phentermine to lose weight, but 2 girls who are friends of mine, one of them studying nutrition, told me that the low calorie system doesn't work and the only way to lose weight is through exercise and that I should stop taking Phentermine, but my nutritionist says otherwise, also this other girl I know said that Phentermine worked wonders on her, but now for some reason it isn't working on me.

I feel stressed because of this and I said like fuck everything and started eating shit again because I no longer know what to do and I've gained weight again :( help me guys pls

Weight loss is ultimately eating less calories than you use. Calories out > calories in. This is the fucking golden rule of weight loss. Find out what your maintenance calories per day is and the EAT LESS THAN THAT EACH DAY. That's it.

Read through /fit/s sticky. There's some easy to understand shit there about weight loss. Fucking hell that one friend sounds retarded. I can sit on my ass all damn day and lose weight because I'm not eating the calories needed to maintain the weight so it comes off. Exercise just saves your muscle as your weight is coming off.

You're pretty much me. I'm both of those posts. Same height/weight/Close to same age.

I eat around 1500 to 1800 calories a day. "maintenance" is roughly 2300 cals. So if you eat 2000 cals you'll lose but slowly. I'd recommend starting in again at around 1750 cals/day and follow that for 3 months. You should see weight start to come off.

Weight loss takes time. Make sure to read the /fit/ sticky, there's some good shit about weight loss there.

Persistence and perseverance is the most important thing.

Keep track of everything you eat. Everything. Become intimately familiar with nutritional info. Make it a habit.

Drugs might help but the most important thing always is eating fewer calories than you actually use in a day. If you do that consistently you WILL lose weight. It just takes a while. This is not an overnight thing.

self control is a skill that takes time to learn & master, if you've worked hard all week to stay with your diet but you hit a moment of weakness and give in to your cravings, I would say purging is a better solution than putting yourself a week behind, because it is very easily to lose hope & give up when you're always taking 1 step back for 2 step forwards

sometimes i take a 10min break and drink lots of water during it. Then when you purge, the beginning would be mostly water but towards the end there should be some food. There's no set 'time' i find, some days it comes out very easily and other days it will take an hour, you should judge by the amount of vomit. Btw bread is one of the hardest things to purge.

Well it's actually best to weigh yourself daily and then observe the trend. That being said, it can be quite discouraging because of all the fluctuations from e.g. water weight. If you put on 1kg of water and lose 100g of fat, you will still appear 900g heavier the next day. As long as you're eating less than what you're burning you are guaranteed to be losing fat.

that's a great achievement, don't worry about the binging, you'll get there.

try making some designated days, say one each week, on which you will eat whatever you want, probably exceeding 700. that way whenever you are on the cusp of binging on a regualr day, you can remind yourself that you get to have whatever you feel like on Tuesday or whatever, and then it is easier to resist.

Probably the latter. Afaik from lurking /fit/ you can't bulk and cut at the same time. You can recomposition your body but in the end its easier and less murky just to either-or at a time.
