Yes it is possible but you have to go for thick leather. I own one but no matter what it is nowhere near perfect for working. The leather limits your movement, those jackets are rather short thus offering less protection and you could argue that they are rather heavy. But you can use them for every weather up to let's say 20 °C

As far as you can say one is a punk I am a punk. I wear one early-mid punks wore them but I painted a lot of stupid bullshit on it. It doesn't suit anyone though. But please don't dress like a fashion punk with one of these. It will look bad.
