Has anyone ever successfully dyed or intentionally faded a pair of black jeans to a charcoal color?

What's the best, surest way to do this?

Soaking them in an tiny amount Rit color remover and then laundering them?

Soaking them in hot water with salt?

What does "bleach solvent with bleaching detergent to fade it" mean? Was that just you typing fast, or is there actually some kind of regular detergent I can use to fade it really, really fucking fast?
