So what would be a good pair of pants to match this? I'm pretty good with natural/neutral colours but the highlighter colour is throwing me off.
Plaid general too, I guess.
return it if you can and get a different shirt
those kind of highlighter/neon coloured flannels will never look good

this
its terrible and you will look like an elementary school kid wearing it
but to answer your questions: black jeans

I understand this completely, normallly I go for a more understated colour scheme.
However, I got this for christmas from my gran, didn't have the heart to ask where she got it so returning it isn't an option.

Thanks man. I figured black and navy were pretty safe choices. Any else that can be mentioned, are khakis of any colour ruled out?

Wearing khakis will make you look like a child, my man.

If that's the case, then I'd say the same goes for jeans and every kind of "shorts".

I mean Chinos, khakis, slacks, casual pants, however you choose to refer them by.
Pic related is the type of pants im talking about.

I'd probably go with black jeans
You could also try going for a terrorwave look. There used to be threads posted here pretty often and the colors look like they go with the style.
