dogshit, as always
any recomendations for a 100-120€ watch?
>YEAR TWOTHOUSAND TWENTY.

Unless you're going for some sort of Viktor Tsoi aesthetic, into the trash it goes.
is leather more effay than steel for a everyday casual look
>>12062179
It really depends on the watch, the leather, and the circumstances.
Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.
>Early Vostok Neptune's will never be re-released
>Seiko Astronomical Observatory Chronometer will never be put on the market, for any price

>>12062156
what are your intentions? dress? diving? everyday watch?
do you like busy dials, or something clean? colors?
I've picked up some micro brands. I can't rationalize spending thousands, when I can get a very nice micro brand with virtually the same quality for +/-$1000.
That may explain some of the luxury brands' decline lately. Micro brands' offer substantive competition.
Are there any new chronographs out there that have a clean and simple dial like this guy? I hate everything I've come across.
>>12062167
Hey moron, you post this on every watch thread! Come up with an original thought!
Like my watch muh niggas?
>>12062334
was that $500?
wtf is this model
>>12062324
I was hoping I wouldn't have to settle for a speedmaster as they're a little sportier than what I'm looking for.
>>12062277
Maybe a Braun if you're fine with quartz.
>>12062386
Thanks for the suggestion. That is a nice and clean dial.
Perhaps I should have specified that I'm looking for something that's almost a dress watch.
>>12062394
>>12062401
Nice -- that is a lovely suggestion.
Something about the vertical placement of the subdials and the date window rubs me the wrong way.
...but it also led me to find this almost-beauty.
Although this one is way too busy. I wish it just had tick marks and not numbers. And the telemeter can go too.
>>12062415
I know one but can't find it atm
>>12062421
Yeah, I came across that Zenith in my search too. It's so damn close to what I'm looking for I can almost taste it. If only the hands and hour markers were a bit more bold.
>>12062394
In that case I'd say get a Max Bill like >>12062401.
>>12062394

>>12062394
>>12062468
I love the Nomos Orion as a dress watch and will probably get one, but I'm looking for something a little bolder for a chronograph (but not too bold).
>>12062470
Is that so?
>>12062478
Nice find! Thanks, Anon.
>>12062480
How do you feel about the IWC Portugese and 7 Day?
>>12062480
Do you want just stick indicators, no Arabic or Roman numbers?
>>12062486
I wish the subdials were at 3 and 9... but is that heat blued steel? Pretty damn sexy and also a little bit out of my price range.
>>12062494
That would be preferred. I might be willing to compromise depending on what they look like.
>>12062480
>Nice find! Thanks, Anon.
That model is the Senator Hand Date
>>12062503
I feel the same way about it. I overall love the watch, but the way that the subdials cut off the 12 and 6 really messes with me.
Im looking at buying my sister a watch for christmas. She works at a high end medical clinic, and needs something that will look classy, but is also easy to read and has a second hand. Anybody have any recommendations? I know next to nothing about womens watches
Should I buy this?

I would like to change the band because it pulls my hair all the fucking time, to the point where I stopped wearing it.
Any recs on new bands for it?
It only sells for $100 and it was a gift so getting rid of it isnt really an option.
>>12062527
yes
>>12062523
eh, yeah why not
>>12062622

Anyone know of a cheaper version of something like these?
>>12062770
Other than really shitty souvenir watches for gullible tourists, no.

I was given it as a gift.
I was wondering if switching the band would be a decent idea, as I don't like the current one.

>>12063115

I don't know about vape mods. Seiko mods are by far the most popular mods because of ubiquity of parts and because of cheapness and because people like their watches.

when i went to see watches in person there were some 2-3k ones that I liked on more than 20k whatever. It really is different in person.
Good options for 1k or less are seiko and sinn. Also quartz. Lots of watch people disdain quartz in favor of mechanical but that's because they're idiots. Peak quartz is like 1.5k-4k while that's mediocre mechanical but instead you pay for real things rather than history and status and prestige and other bullshit that's really prevalent in mechanical watchmaking.

34 mm watches are dope. I have a cool vintage omega seamaster which is 34mm. rolex oysterquartz are 35mm? 36mm? grand seiko quartzes can be 37mm.
Just bought this. Lay thine judgement on me

Thoughts on buying a 2nd hand watch?
Planning on buying a seiko skx007 still in waranty for 150 euros 2nd hand or a orient mako pepsi for 100
>>12062324
I don't get why people send this guy money just for him to tell them to buy the same two watches.
>>12063007
21k ... Sure maybe in the next life kid.
>>12063660
>Thoughts on buying a 2nd hand watch?
Like, watches with some significant monetary value, depending on make, model and condition.
But those two you listed?
You can get the seiko, new, for not much more. Perhaps eurocuck taxes fuck you up, but that's no great saving.
Also, these are beater watches, so if the fuck that used them before you wore them as such and they're all beat up as shit, then obviously they're not worth it.
If they're in near pristine condition, sure, why not? Especially if you can't get a new one for say, only a third or less more wherever you are.
As it stands, I say don't bother.
>>12063680
Some find him entertaining.
Like throwing peanuts at some sideshow ape to make it dance in its own feces.
He's kind of like 4chan itself, in a way: you pan through enough crap and you may, maybe, might just find a nugget of gold amongst all that shit. Still, it's never really worth the effort and the same gold could be had elsewhere with less arduous effort.
Every once and a while I hear something from Archie that makes me go "oh, yeah". Most of his spiel is however too damn repetitive (he's not scripted and it fucking shows in the way he repeats the same fucking thing over and over) to bother with at all.
>>12063680
He basically says this:
>Your first Swiss watch
Oris
>What everyone should have
MOTFM
>The best obtainable luxury watch brand
Rolex
>If you can afford haute horology
Jaeger-LeCoultre, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, Breguet and A. Lange & Sohne
>Stay away
TAG Heuer

Can you get russian watches?
They'll be cheaper and Vostok divers are surprisingly "good" (for what they are and what they cost).
Dunno if you have some kind of anti-russian resentment or whatever, or just hate the styling.
But if you can't get a jap diver for a good price, look up the russ divers.

>>12065149
>That cut off six
For what fucking purpose?
>>12065158
Low end brands didn't have money to retool a line for a new face
So when they came out with watches they retrofit what they had on stock.
Then when the brands went upmarket like every brand ever (most Americans could have bought a Rolex easily and an Omega was sold for the price of seikos today)
They kept it for heritage/marketing
What are some top tier options around the $800 range?
>>12065180
The sole purpose of watches today = status symbol
If your budget cannot reflect that of a status symbol you're better off going without.
Take that $800 buy a top end cell pbone
>>12065180
go on a good watch forum and find a previously-owned sinn or a damasko, nomos, stowa...
or a nice Seiko, you can find a Seiko with a nice finish/movement etc. for $800, again, make sure you're buying from a reputable seller on the forums.
Don't listen to douchebags like >>12065228
>>12065180
Oris Artix
>>12065228
What a load of crap! Watches are still the best way to check time. It take just a second to turn your wrist, as opposed to fishing your cell phone out of your pocket and taking it off sleep mode to check the time. Watches are worn for convince more than status. The fact is, the average person doesn't know the difference between an Oris or a Seiko. They might know what a Rolex Submariner is, but unless they are a connoisseur, most would see a similar Orient dive watch and assume it was a Rolex, and wouldn't know the difference between a hacking second hand and a sweep second hand. People who wear an expensive mexhanical/automatic watch should wear it for their own appreciation, because the vast majority of people just don't care what effing watch you are wearing!
Guys, brown leather strap for a SK007?
>>12065499
Dark brown
>>12065499
I prefer a NATO strap on a dive watch. I never understood putting a leather strap on a watch that is designed for water use.
>>12065505
Yeah. That's what I was thinking about. Thanks
>>12065507
Kinda agree, but the thing is that nato is so overused now that I won't feel comfortable with it. It has the standard metal strap but I need to replace it anyway because it's coming with me hiking and mountaineering (inb4, because it's reliable and I don't have to worry about batteries).
