Hi /fa/m,
I need some help - my dad's a pilot and his birthday is coming up and I want to get him a good flight jacket/bomber - I was poking around seeing what he likes under the guise of discussing army gear and he really liked this one, says his dad owned one just like it -

It's an Eastman RAF 1942 era jacket and while I'd love to just go ahead and buy it but it's €1,190 / $1,270 which is a bit too much for me to spend.

I'm saving it as a last option but I'd love to hear if you guys have any suggestions for something similar that's a bit more affordable

well, first of all
what's your budget?
and does it necessarily have to be brown?
anyways, if you don't have much money, i'm sure your dad would still appreciate a $50 as much as he would one that's a couple hundred
best bet though would be hitting ebay or smaller selling sites like etsy and the likes for a flight jacket

what exactly do you mean by that
aero leather has some really nice similar jackets for ~$900 (pic related)
http://www.aeroleatherclothing.com/products.php?cat=militaryjackets
and with some effort you might find other quality brands that are another few hundred cheaper
but you won't find a quality shearling jacket <$500

>i'm sure your dad would still appreciate a $50 as much as he would one that's a couple hundred
that's terrible advice unless you are extremely lucky with a used one a $50 leather jacket will be absolutely horrible
and you'll be essentially denying your dad the chance to wear one he actually likes,
cause he'll be pressured to pretend liking the cheapo one you've got him instead of buying a quality one for himself
there's absolutely nothing wrong with "only" spending $50 on a present for your dad
but please choose an item where you can get a nice version of, maybe some gloves or a scarf

>what's your budget?
I'd be a lot more comfortable around the $500-700 mark, I'm not sure if that's realistic but that's what I could shell out on a gift without it hurting too bad.
>and does it necessarily have to be brown?
If you have anything in mind that's not brown but of the same general build I'm open to hear, but models similar to the one I posted are my preference right now
>anyways, if you don't have much money, i'm sure your dad would still appreciate a $50 as much as he would one that's a couple hundred
He'll be appreciative if I made a macaroni mosaic of a jacket but I'd much rather gift him something he'd not only like because it came from me but on its own merit
>best bet though would be hitting ebay or smaller selling sites like etsy and the likes for a flight jacket
Will look around, thanks

Nice digits
>what exactly do you mean by that
$500-700 would be comfy but what you posted has definitely replaced the Eastman as my last resort, looks great,
will def lurk around that site - any other similar brands you know of?
And thanks
>>

>any other similar brands you know of?
aero leather is the only one i know of (as in have actually seen their products irl and can vouch for their quality)
but a google search for "RAF shearling bomber" comes up with tons of other options
https://www.flying-jacket.com/jackets/
is a bit cheaper and looks decent in the pics
>>
>>11999994
Well that's plenty for me to work with, thanks a lot for the help

Is he a big guy?
