What you need to do is get an authentic issue one, size short small. That will fit you pretty well if you wear a hoodie or something underneath. The modern commercial ones are boxier than the originals.

And to answer your question, a plain white t-shirt would look good as long as the jacket fits well. If you're in a colder area you can layer with a sweater or a collared shirt/flannel.

If you're lucky like I was you pick up a mint condition one for $5 at the goodwill. Otherwise you have to get them on ebay for $75 in that condition.

Usually just thermals or henleys, sometimes a Dickies work shirt. When it gets really cold a hoodie or an old British wool sweater. I think some people call them "commando sweaters".
