Can this meme stop?
>>

I don't get it either. Even for the novelty. Could get something godly at that price which actually stops bullets. Probably with military grade plates rated to stop rifle shots.
>>
>>11833780
I bought this Bundeswehr frag vest and it'll stop any shrapnel, any pistol caliber and any shotgun ammo dead.

For 60 fuckin bucks. I'm thinking about coloring it black or blue.

Yeah no kidding.
Black was pretty popular with the flecktarn parka trend.
Love the blue/black it has going on. A treatment with wax would be a pretty sweet finish, I think.

After countless washes, if you wanted to know.
I think black would be the best. It goes pretty nicely with the stitching, velcro, and zipper tape colours.
>>
>>11833797
This looks more dark grey than black, is that because of the photo?
>>11833801
Hell, I like that faded flecktarn look too. The reason I was thinking blue was that I wanted to have the lighter colors really come out as blue, since blue combined with the darker colors would likely just end up as black anyway.
>>
>>11833807
Think it was that they needed ever so slightly more dye. It is black. Just not enough of it.
Also you need to be cautious of the blend ratio of cotton with synthetic.
Could go either way really.
A dark-wash blue would be pretty cool. The both work pretty well with the highlight colours.
I'd maybe finish it off with black bees wax over the blue dye once I got the fades I want. But that's just me. Maybe try to replicate the effect on Saberi's blue P1s had I the space to use upholstery urethane.

True. But there are no end to white ones.
They are very common concealables for underneath clothing.

Do you know of any cheap alternatives to the others you linked?

Real bullet proof vests expire and quickly
>>
>>11833847
Only if they're badly made and also exposed to the weather. Old army vests like the Bundeswehr one are expected to last through entire generations of conscripts.
>>
>>11833797

How did you do this and what products did you use?
>>
>>11833847
>>11833850
Pretty much. Know what youre buying.
Kevlar plates have an expiry date.
Steels and alloys dont.

>>11833854
Regular black textile dye. Dylon and Rit are the go-to for most people. The instructions and mixing is based on pounds of material. One package of Dylon will do a maximum of 1/2 pound of fabric before losing potency, i.e a single size L longsleeve will achieve a full shade. Lighter results are to be expected on blends and mixes.
Just be very aware of the cotton/synthetic blend ratio in the garment before purchase of the parka. Not all batches are made equal through the decades. Some versions have more cotton, others have more polyester. You'd want one with the biggest cotton % for it to dye. That one there is a higher cotton, lower poly blend. You'll get a very dark gray, like washed black

>I bought this Bundeswehr frag vest and it'll stop any shrapnel, any pistol caliber and any shotgun ammo dead.

/k/ here.
No, it will not. It will stop most fragments of grenades or mortars. Maybe a .22LR and some low caliber pistol rounds. But common calibers like 9x19mm will zip right on fucking through.

As for shotguns? It might stop birdshot, but it will not stop any type of slug or buckshot.

Don't spread lies about flack jackets... Recently some stupid hick shot his friend who was wearing one and killed him "accidentally".
>>
>>11834584
This. It's foolish to treat a Flak Jacket like it provides any ballistic protection.
>>
Is it actually legal to wear something like this??
>>
>>11834674
Depends on your country. In America? Yeah. Why not? It's literally just a vest. Actual armor is legal in most areas, all areas if you have a "need" for it. I've worn actual level 3 plates a few times for my job, not very effay.
>>
>>11833797
What is this called ? The style ?
>>
>>11834608
Would a flak jacket prevent getting stabbed?
>>11834739
Thats a parka with the "Flecktarn" pattern dyed black.
>>
>>11834739
That's a German Military Surplus Flecktarn Parka. He dyed it himself.
>>
>>11834762
No. You could push a knife right through it. Same with level II body armor.

Plates would stop a knife just fine though.
>>
>>11834795
Cool, thx

>>11834762
>>11834795
Nigger what? You're aware that that vest is rated Level IIIA? Or would be, if they had ever submitted it to the US testing. It's a massive fucking INSERT PACKAGE of kevlar in there, front, back, shoulder pads and neck protector. Even on the sides. The only thing it won't let through is high velocity rifle rounds.
>>
>>11833797
tfw my parka came out absolutely pitch black
dylon dyes are incredible
>>
>>11834584
>9x19mm will zip right on fucking through

You know how I know you're not from /k/?
>>
>>11834839
Accually he is right, flak jackets were designer to stop small pices shrapnel not bullets. 9x19 is very likely to pierce right through.
>>
>>11834817
I don't know about the other guys, but flak/frag vests do not offer ballistic or stabbing protection. Certain Flak vests offer pockets for you to put plates or Kevlar panels in that would however.
>>
FirstSpear is the most /fa/ plate carrier company prove me wrong
>>
>>11835014
Nigger I have that vest hanging in my coatrack. I have stabbed it as hard as I could in the back and it did fucking nothing, and I have a pointy knife. The massive pack of kevlar is at least half an inch thick if not more. There is a point when sheer mass of ballistic fibre makes stabbing through it almost impossible unless you have arms like Schwarzenegger circa 1980.
>>
>>11835031
>stabbed a vest with nobody inside of it
>lol it stab proof xD

The plate carrier vest is cheap. Then you can get bulletproof plates for like a couple hundred bucks

>>
>>11835031
I'm not talking about whatever vest you have. I'm talking about flak jackets or vests, which are not designed to offer ballistic or stabbing protection.

The vest you have most likely has plates or inserts designed for such things.
>>
>>11835306
This model of vest is literally named "Splitterschutzweste", which translates to fragmentation protection vest. Except in the German army the protection classes only START at Level IIIA. That's called SK 1 (Schutzklasse 1, protection level 1) over here. Long story short, you're not even trying to be from /k/ you fucking casul.

I'm not trying to prove anything to you, nor do I I consider myself "from /k/". I think you have me confused with someone else in this thread.

I am talking about flak jackets, like the American M1955. Flak jackets are not designed with ballistic protection in mind.

The vest you own is not what I was talking about in my original post here: >>11834795 where I was responding to >>11834762
who was asking if a Flak Jacket would prevent you from getting stabbed. And as many American GI's can tell you, no. Bayonets went right through them.
>>
>>11833786
Varg-core
>>
>>11835400
Idiot.
>>
>>11834762
Ballistic vests work different than you think.

It's meant to absorb a bunch of energy all at once.

A knife works by applying very little pressure at one point consistently a failure point for Kevlar (woven material and cooked with epoxy like carbon fiber)

You can wear these vests with additional plates to further help disperse the energy from long gun rounds

But these aren't invincible bullet immunity vests

Not an argument
