Hello, reddit friend! I'd like to recommend to you a pair of Red Wing boots. I have a pair of their Iron Ranger boots and everyone I know agrees that they are nigh-indestructible with their goodyear welt construction, conductive soles and high-quality leather, constructed right here in the good ol' US of A! I assure you I am not affiliated with the company. I also don't work any sort of manual labour job, but hey, let's not let that discount my opinion on these great bits of heritage footwear! You can ask me more at /r/malefashionadvice.
>>
>>11795503
I have those, pic related.
they're tanks, but I'm not a huge fan of the silhouette.
but price/quality is insanely good.
me dad has a pair of booties that show no wear and he has owned for I believe 10 yrs.
function over form, imo.

Thoughts on these? Found them on the low, and I wanna start wearing boots. Palladium has some cheaper stuff, so I guess I'll have to stick with them for now. They don't look bad either, and some anons here seem to find them comfy.

I'm one of the people posting the most about them, they're super comfortable and seem durable right now, but I got the canvas ones at the moment, might get something more waterproof for the winter as well.

Go for them, they're as comfortable as sneakers but better with all the ankle support.

>>
>>11799376
I feel like they have too high of a heel and feel like the toe box is too sharp and feminine looking.
The minimalist crappy foux-looking leather just looks like a bad pair of boots as well.
It depends the look you're going for and imo, they are bland and would be meant to allude to another article of clothing. This would not be the a highlight in the outfit.. but if you thought the same you wouldn't be asking for opinions probably. ;) ;)
>>
>>11799429
I agree with the cheap looking leather. it bothers me as well.
They look like the boots murdoc from gorillaz wear.
I mean. I would wear them with skinny jeans and a plain t-shit.
I was asking because I wanted to hear an opinion. thank you for the output.

I like them better than my SLP Combat Boots. The sole feels nice but seems that it may wear down fast. Still not sure how to approach that issue.

The only thing I don't like about them is the size of the opening. Im currently looking for a leather tailor that can taper them a bit.

Zipper isn't bad either. It's not too noticeable since its in the inside and also saves me from lacing up all the time.

palladium waterproof baggy leathers: can't remember many specifics but I really liked them.

corcoran jump boots: bad grip. too heavy to dance in. indestructible. these will last for as long as you're willing to wear them.

solovair 1460 clones: too early to say but I like them so far. stock shoelaces suck. also the opening at the top is too big and might let in water.

so has anyone who ordered got their aw16 meme boots in yet?
how are they, should I cop?
>>
>>11805230
Ordered EU45, (I'm EU45/US11 in Nikes usually) they're a metric fuckton bigger than I thought they'd be. They look quite less flattering IRL and a lot more chunkier. EU45 has plenty room, but I think they look ridiculous on me (5'11). Debating myself whether I should return 'em, size down or just keep for winter and use with thick bootsocks. Pretty comfortable on feet though.

good fit which is unusual for my size.

They're great boots but they're very hard, if you buy them used your ankles will get rubbed raw until you grow enough scar tissue to be desensitized to it, which can take a few months.
Same if you buy them new actually.

The trick is to tie them up REAL TIGHT so that it stays high up on your shins and doesn't slump down, cause it's the folds around the ankle that chafe your skin, so no "oh Imma do that stylish thing where you tie em up around ur ankle" cause it's not worth shit.

Also, try to put large water bottles in them so that they stay straight once you take them off.

But they're still lovely, they go for 100€ in milsurp stores now (50€ six years ago) but they will last at least half a decade before wearing down too much.

If you go to concerts where there's a moshpit, they're an absolute must. Nothing will protect your toes better, except for steel-toed security workboots.

So I'm thinking about getting a pair of Oxblood Iron Rangers because I haven't found anything I like more yet. My style is sort of a British prep, and I was hoping to find something a bit removed from the American workwear style, without actually being a full on dress boot. Maybe something like pic related, I like the higher collar and lack of hooks. I'd prefer a thinner sole/sunken tread like the IRs. What do?

british prep meets american workwear lol. The first pic you posted looked more on my level (topman tier) as far as being subdued but not lifeless when it comes to colors, casual enough to be active in, but classy enough to look presentable for dinner with in laws.

My style is the former, not a combination of the two. I'm trying to avoid the latter, which is why i'm looking for alternatives to IRs. I don't have anything against workwear, but it's basically the r/MFA uniform.
