The cringe comes from people trying to make it classy, or people just straight up being oblivious and wearing stereotypical neckbeard clothes like piss-stained dragon shirts with cargo shorts

I've got a couple of musician friends who wear fedoras sometimes, they tend to dress somewhat caribbean style, light colored clothes, loose fitting untucked linen shirts, stuff like that

Also they are sort of dirtbag looking, I think that may be the key. If you look like a dirtbag, like hand rolled cigarettes and tattoos on your neck and gold teeth, then nobody will get the idea that you are going for a "born in the wrong decade" look
