How exactly do I break away from wearing a graphic t-shirt, cargo shorts, and mandles every day?

I love you
Actually give a fuck about what your appearance is because it shapes the perception that others have of you more so than your words.
I dated a girl who didn't understand this and was surprised when people started actually paying attention to her and taking her seriously when she stopped dressing like she was 14

Rich is fa indeed. Post more.
I've been in this same boat for a while. I'm a poorfag trying to make a transition from my High School garb (bootcut jeans, western boots, tee, and baseball cap) to basic /fa/.
I've slowly started picking up nice, plain tshirts from H&M, Uniqlo, J Crew, Banana Republic, etc. when they're on sale and wearing them with a nice pair of jeans (Levi 511s right now, I'll buy some Unbranded UB201s down the road when I have the $$) and decent charcoal hoodie (H&M). Shoes were a difficult step for me as I live in a rural area and I walk in a lot of mud/snow during parts of the year, so I bought a pair of Adidas Sambas for $50 instead of shelling out $300 for Common Projects.
I can't believe the difference in how others treat me. It's not like I've changed much or an wearing a $500 outfit. But I've had girls from back in High School walk up and tell me I'm "looking nice these days" (hint: I guess I didn't before). In the college environment I fit in better - I'm not the best dressed on campus by any measure, but I'm also not the worst. (The standard here is New Balance sneakers, jeans, graphic tee, and oversized sweatshirt hoodie).
I bought three shirts for Uniqlo (one flannel and two Oxfords) for swank... I just need the shoes to go with them! A pair of black loafers will probably be my next cop.
Next on my list is a better jacket and hairstyle

good for you man
you seem very /mfa/ but also a nice guy
try to remember that its the fit of the clothing, silhouette of your body that is paramount, expensive clothing comes after you know what to do with it
enjoy urself
