Exactly this. I know guys with zero personality or tats who have gotten a sleeve of generic flash... Seemingly as an attempt to have a defining characteristic or seem less boring. They're still boring and dress the same as before.

I think guys like him are why the stick and poke became trendy; to differentiate members of a subculture or scene from impostors and dilettantes. The same is true for neck and face placements. Gotta go where the normie a won't. And for what? Genuine expression of personality, or social signaling? A bit of both I guess.

No problem against people who get tattoos, however, most people get the shittest things permanently inked on their skin. I appreciate a really well done piece of art, that isn't just a combination of random shit that supposedly has meaning to you. Get a fucking diary instead of inking every shitty thing that comes to mind while you're touring with the lads.
