The only truly /aesthetic/ city is in Europe.
Despite its weird/slightly fucked up skyline, it's pretty magnificent from street level.
The old parts of central London are like the best bits of Paris, the Canary Wharf is like our tiny piece of Manhattan, southeast London has the roughness and ugliness of Berlin. It has everything.

Visited Salzburg for a day last summer and was not only struck by the beautifully pure and minimal architecture—and the sound of music there, notably Beethovens moonlight sonata performed by a plump and radiantly smiling man playing crystal glasses—but also how fucking refined and well dressed every person I saw was. It may look nice, but there are a lot f drawbacks to living in old buildings like that. I've lived in mostly 100 plus yr old rowhouses in Chicago and they really aren't that nice. I finally moved into a modern little rowhouse with all the appropriate safety features and built for extra space and modern conveniences.

And those buildings are not build with things like dishwashers and washer/dryer in mind. Paris and its not even close. It has everything - the classic architecture, rich history, city centers, many landmarks, nightlife, shopping and is 'cosmopolitan'.

That is aside from the growth of sandniggers in Paris.

How on earth is Berlin ef/fa/y? Because there's a bunch of saloon socialists walking around there in thrift store clothes?
Berlin is totally ruined in WW2, and from there on rebuild by communists. The city itself is uglier than the average German village, and is as superficial as the average American suburb. It can be by no means /fa/
>>
>>11329079
DC has its amazing parts (older architecture, some of the rowhomes) and its shitty parts (pretty much anything in Northeast/Southeast). I still love it to death though, mostly because it's such a mix of ethnic communities that you can pretty much find a place for anything you want to eat/do/see.

Also, like someone else mentioned in this thread, it has a pretty high cost barrier to entry. I spend a lot of money ensuring my own comfort (driving everywhere, having a bigger condo, etc.) that I couldn't even consider doing if I was a student or has a low-paying job.

>>11329184
Tokyo is great in pictures and absolutely hell to live in for a long period of time. "Nice" Tokyo - the middle of it, near Ginza and Harajuku and Akiba and shit - is awesome, no doubt. But "Real" Tokyo - where most people live - is kinda cramped and unfulfilling and awful.

My honest thought: I think Baltimore has a lot of promise if it actually tried. The oldschool architecture and history is great. Too bad for West Baltimore, I guess.
>>
>>11331602

Its arts and music scenes make it the /fa/est city in Europe.

Vienna>Paris
>>11331609
I actually have been there twice. The first time was kind of a shock. I live close to the German border and am used to towns like Köln and Stuttgart.

Coming in Berlin was quite a shock. Broad streets, concrete appartment complexes everywhere, total lack of old architecture. I understand it from the war, but it felt just as sad as seeing todays' Rotterdam.

As for the art and music scene, this might be true, but the city as an object with buildings and such simply is not /fa/.

My second trip was better though since we just went to Neuköln and Kreuzberg and did stupid pseudo-hipster stuff.

Partially true. Beacon Hill (pic related) has a mixture of shit interiors for the poor and middle class, and nice interiors for the rich, but it's nice to walk around in and centrally located if you don't spend much time at home anyway.

There are actually a lot of recently renovated units in these areas though. Most of them are condos, which is the nature of large coastal cities. I live in a nice condo in the South End myself.

>Those nigs and Pakistan make more money than most people in your shitty city.
They don't. London has higher unemployment rates than England. Pic related is from the Sheffied city council, all other figures too show London has higher unemploymen than England.

Unemployment = people without job that are looking for a job. A millionaire without work is NOT unemployed.

All these unemployed people rely on handouts from the state. Yes, that's right, while beta providers like you pay 1000 pounds for a condo, they get free housing for themselves and their 20 kids.

Why ever bother housing worthless immigrants on top of the most expensive ground in Europe? Rather counterproductive, especially if you consider the working Briton has to work his ass off for a smaller house in 'a better area'.
>>
>>11331693
Because the majority of them were housed in the 80s and 90s before the speculative bubble? Can't blame the lower classes for what's happening in London at the moment, they get housed all across the UK, the housing marker, however, is only a real issue in London and the surrounding areas. Even places like HK, NYC and Singapore have caps and regulations put on foreigners and developers buying land, London doesn't, only the government is to blame here.

If I want to live in Amsterdam I would have to pay like €800 for a pathetic room, or accept 1 hour commuting times.
