6 months into growing an afro.
Any way to stop accidentally plucking stray strands of hair every time I use a comb, my fingers, or a pick? Is this normal?

Are you a girl? Non-black girls calling me nigger is my fetish.
I'm going to pretend that you're a girl.

I'm about 5 months in right now and so far there's nothing that I know of, I should probably just get a wider toothed comb for when my hair gets bigger like this, but for now I just deal with it. Then again, I've never even really looked into not plucking stray strands before, I just accepted it as part of the deal.

From what I've researched, it is. That said, I remember coming here a few months ago and seeing a video in a black hair general that would've been useful for this.
I've been growing mine out for 2+ years and blow dry it out everyday. It's gonna full out but if you're healthy and not washing everyday cutting split ends regularly you should be fine.
>almost 2 years afro
>don't give a fuck about it

Shampoo less often and condition daily. You might lose a bit of color, but it'll thicken and strengthen your hair over the long run.
Make sure your skin is light enough and your facial structure is strong enough to pull off a full afro so you don't put in years of effort only to look like a soul-jive-type or a younger Fat Albert.

got this for a few years now, hair is strong, healthy and requires little maintenance. Hit the sweet spot

Hair just naturally falls out so you're going to have a few strands coming out daily. You can strengthen your hair by conditioning and keeping it hydrated. Funnily enough I think black hair does a good job of not falling out. Got some white girlfriends and for the first time in my life I had to pull hair out of my shower drain to keep it from clogging. I have a family full of women and I've grown my hair out as well (dreads and braids) and never had to do that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
