For anyone looking for fragrance suggestions, give as much information as possible about what you want. Helpful info could include gender, price range, climate/season, use (work/clubbing/etc.), notes/families you like/dislike, and other perfumes you've tried and liked/disliked.

I'm searching for the right place to order a new edt, but I'll get a 200 ml bottle. Is a sample the right option for when I am at my gf's place?

I'm ironically wearing secretions magnifiques today.

It's really not as bad as the attention whore YouTube reaction videos make it out to be.
It's a floral and mildly woodsy pleasant fragrance that they threw a salty metallic note into. There are definitely people that react to it in a negative way, but there's also people who have told me they love the fragrance I'm wearing. I don't get as many complements as I do wearing Santal 33, but I do get some.

White florals like jasmine, honeysuckle, neroli, and tuberose are my favorite on women. I also really appreciate a woman who wears male-leaning / unisex fragrances like pic related confidently. Not really wowed by any fruity / sweet / gourmand fragrances, as most just remind me of lotion or body spray.

Maybe it lasts and I get used to the smell after a few hours?
>>
>>11154379
It's called acclimating to the smell.

You'll be able to smell things, initially, but then your senses become used to them as sort of a background noise and they become dull to YOU. To others, the smell is still there.
>>
>>11154948
Lots of variables but for the most part CDNI is a projection and longevity beast.

At the seven hour mark I had someone say that it was still filling the room with smell.

I have a December 2015 batch from France and colognes last the usual recommended amount on my skin.
>>
Does anyone else not get great performance on DHI? I feel like I don't project at all and it lasts for a bit but just as a skin scent.
>>
>>11155105
It was like 70 degrees today. Maybe it's just olfactory degredation or whatever but I really love the scent and I would be really upset if the performance wasn't all that it's chalked up to.
>>
Anyone tried Dior Homme? The regular version, not Sport, although any opinions on the Intense would be good too.
I'm looking for a daily wear, nothing offensive or too strong, but with a nice masculine scent.
>>
>>11155137
Dior homme is awesome. I myself think the intense is actually more wearable casually because of the chocolate notes which tone down the harsh iris. But either will work great. Get some samples you won't be disappointed.
>>
>>11155105
>>11155116
definitely olfactory fatigue. try asking a friend next time 4-5 hours after application. similar has happened to me with Aventus and original DH, but apparently I was smelling strong both times so be careful

and 70 degrees? that's borderline too warm for DHI. do not wear if it gets hotter than that unless you want to choke people out

I love and own it along with two flankers, but masculine it is not.

I need a manly fragrance.
I use basic Boss Bottled, I kinda like it, I want something slightly different to vary.
Majority of men fragrances are too sweet or smell like fucking cologne, It's pretty hard to find a manly yet 'fresh' one.
>>
Hey /fa/, i'm looking for a perfume. but i have no idea how to decide.
Since i'm a poor college student, i can't (don't want to) afford the expensice colognes but i still want something better smelling than deodorant. I don't like to stand out, which is hard sometimes, since I'm 6'6-7". I'm not wearing anything that stands out, Jeans, sneakers and basic t-shirts or shirts.
I thought about getting the Bvlgari Blv but i fear that it might be too offensive and that i might want to get something darker.
What would you recommend? please be kind, i'm new to the whole /fa/ thing.
>>
>>11152611

Not that I know of, but if you make an account and buy something from them you get a permanent 3% discount on everything starting with the next time you buy something.
>>
>>11155652
>Bvlgari Blv but i fear that it might be too offensive
nah, it's a fairly safe fragrance that manages not to be too bland. versatile too, good to use year round,

l'instant de guerlain pour homme is a darker option you may like and can be bought online for cheap. not the best for warm/hot weather though, maybe if you go lighter on the application it may work then
>>
>>11155646
Try Santal 33 or Invasion Barbare

Absolutely new to the fragrance scene. My friend gave me Hugo. Is it worth using? Also how do I put it on?
>>
>>11159145

Do you happen to know which Hugo cologne? To be honest the only Hugo cologne I enjoyed was Boss Bottled and Boss Bottled Intense.

In terms of putting it on, just spray three on the neck. One spray on each side of your neck (left and right) and one spray in the middle.

But either way, your friend's cool for giving you cologne. I wish my friends gave me cologne.
>>
>>11159145
>Also how do I put it on?
Average application is 3-5 sprays. Avoid any place too close to the nose like face and front of neck to prevent olfactory fatigue. Under clothes will mute projection. On hair and clothes will keep top notes around longer. Other than that, go to town. I personally spray 1-2 on chest so I get wafts from under my shirt throughout the day, 1 on back of neck. one on forearm and rub the other to share. More for weaker scents, fewer for stronger.

So I don't know shit about fragrances, and wear them to work everyday. Never really gotten complimented on them but also never been talked to about them at all desu. I have Lily Bermuda - Navy and L'Occitane - Vetyvyer. Are these pleb level fragrances? Trying to get my wardrobe in check before I start burning more colognes but I would like to get some feedback. FYI I work in an office setting, shirt and tie everyday.

Jesus no. Unless you don't want anyone to smell you. Or you're wearing Opium or Chergui in the summer.

>one spray is enough. Once on the wrist, rub on the other wrist, both wrists on neck.

You can spray more than that without "smelling like a Turk"
fuck off.
>>
>>11160459
First off, how many sprays do you apply?
>>
>>11160498
Generally 2 sprays
>>
>>11160515
Try going three or more. Since this is an office, better to err on the side of caution and ask friends to gauge your projection, but I was always a one-two spray kind of guy and it was years before I realized no one could ever smell me, even up close.
>>
>>11160523
Ok, I think that might have been my problem
>>
>>11160515
When you go out (outside the office) try 4 sprays and distribute it through out your upper body. Try that for a bit. Sometimes people don't compliment random people. The people say I smell good are friends or acquaintances
>>
>>11160526
I should add don't spray in the car right before you walk in to the office. Frags tend to project most when first applied and need to settle down. I apply at home, about 20-30 minutes until I walk in the door at work.

Pic related arrived today, and now I smell like a hippie. For men, this is a 1, 2 spray max type of perfume. If you're at all insecure about unisex fragrance, this one isn't for you. It smells of sweet floral incense, with an opening that is like the inside of a Lush store. Layer some Demeter Cannabis Flower with this and go to an outdoor summer concert. Or use some Molecule 01 / Iso E Super to take the edge off of the sweetness and accentuate Chinatown's own woody base.

"do I cop" as a way to ask for any last minute warnings before purchasing

I've been trying to find a particular cologne sample I ordered for a long time. It was a pretty complex niche fragrance that had scents of toasted marshmallow. I think the brand name had something to do with thieves, but I may be completely wrong.

I'm thinking about getting a fragrance for work. Nothing strong. Male or unisex. But nothing fresh, overly citrusy or floral. I am aiming for maximum stay but very little projection, as I am sitting next to people almost every day. my ideal would be for people to notice only when hugging me or being close enough for a handshake without getting annoyed by it when sitting next to me.

I used my old edt as follows: one spray each on crotch, each wrist, neck. had noone ever complain about it being too much and only my girlfriend complementing me on it.

This thread might be about to die, but what might some of you who are more experienced with fragrances recommend to a 20 year old male? I feel like I may be too young to have purpose in wearing a fragrance considering I am not employed at a formal or even semi-formal job. The main purpose of the fragrance would be to garner interest from people around me and to potentially feel good knowing I smell how I want to smell. I guess I may wear it to certain formal events, but those aren't that common as a student.

Plus, a lot of times fragrances aren't really THAT expensive when you look at the cost per usage.

Most normal people are retarded and will lather them self in the stuff and say "But why did I run out of cologne so fast?"

Even with some of the most expensive fragrances, it's literally cents per wearing. And with a good rotation and being aware of how much you're spraying a single fragrance can literally last years and years.

Also, because a lot of perfumers know they can charge out the ass and people will still buy it.

put a ton on then don't leave the house for 5-6 hours

what you are asking for is pretty difficult to achieve 2bh, especially for YSL L'Homme, an edt, and if you don't want any sillage

maybe find a new fragrance
>>
>>11176265
I don't normally suggest this because I'm personally against it, but try a spray or two on your clothing as well

And don't discount olfactory fatigue if you think it's disappearing too quickly. It really is a tricky phenomena, fell victim to it on occasion with even strong scents like Aventus or Dior Homme and foolishly reapplied. Apparently I was a noxious walking cloud of perfume.
>>
>>11176322

Awesome article, it reminds me of something that someone from Amouroud Parfums said, he said that niche fragrances are priced around $175-$200 to stay competitive, anything over $200 is too expensive, and the more interesting this is that niche fragrances priced less than $150 "risks being considered not good enough".

Its kind of true that the actual perfume oils and ingredients that go into a frag are not that expensive. It seems that retail prices are molded to fit both what costs to produce, ship, advertise, etc. a frag and also to mold to people's expectations.

Funny, in my experience, there is near zero correlation between price and perceived quality.

From that boisdejasmine article:
>Today, the niche market has exploded dramatically and there is such a wide range of quality that the “niche” label means nothing in particular
I agree on all aspects but exclusivity. If people want to pay a premium price to have something most do not, I can find no fault in that logic.

Listen up you fucking retard.

The guy was asking opinions on a fragrance that he already had.

He wasn't asking about a potential purchase.

So who gives a fuck what other people think about it. I asked him what he thought of it.

Fuck off and come back when you're 18

You do realise that >>11180427 doesn't say what I said right?

It doesn't even say anything remotely similar to what I said.

You also realise that saying 'samefag' when you've been called out for being a wanker doesn't actually count as a rebuttal?

amouage is ass imo don't suggest pls
>>
strange autistic question here lads

are there any perfumes with that weird, slightly synthetic smell that slushy snow has? The sort of smell you'd find near a chairlift at a ski resort
I thought maybe Christopher Brosius' stuff like Demeter Snow and I Hate Perfume Winter 1972 would be my best bet, anyone have experience with these?
I generally hate how natural most perfume smells so I'd like to avoid some bullshit floral scent that evokes the idea of snow or whatever, I want the real deal

I asked this a couple days ago but I'm running a creed aventus split and I was wondering if anyone is interested in joining. We're just about to fill up so I figured if anyone here was interested i shouldn't exclude.

You're projecting more than 1 million.

> Do YOU realize that for answering so emotionaly you look like a retarded pussy?

Are you 12 years old? Calling you out for your infantile behaviour somehow makes me 'a retarded pussy'? I'm not sure I'm following your lack of logic.

>Crying and samefagging, how poor.

You keep on talking about crying and 'poor'. More projection it seems.

Are you actually going to come up with a rebuttal for the original comment or just try and throw up more dust hoping to avoid it?

Le Labo, and many niches, don't market scents for a particular gender because this >>11184518

Lol no, but a good percentage of them can be considered "unisex"

The whole "ALL FRAGRANCES ARE UNISEX!!" thing needs to die.

How can an odor have a gender? What sex is the smell of coffee? Ozone? Fresh cut grass?
>>
>>11185660

They don't have a gender, nobody said that. Nice strawman though.
>>
>>11185660
Notes are not fragrances. If that's how you got your reasoning then re-think it.
>>
>>11185660
>What sex is the smell of coffee?
????
>>
>>11185640
If by "good percentage" you mean like 97%. Only the most cloying and sickeningly sweet florals and gourmands are out of bounds for men (and no woman with taste would wear them either)
>>

that's the point, you nimrod

2 different people, and again, notes are not fragrances.
Try again
>>
>>11185684
Ahhhh, so a single odor does not have a gender, but put several of them together and *then* it does. OK... Look, just because the fragrance industry tells you a perfume is "for ladies" doesn't mean you have to believe it. That distinction was invented by some marketing exec at Estee Lauder said so.

Thats why I said "and" you fucking (still & over again) retard. I didnt tried ti samefag, I addet tge second sentence. Goddamit Summer is here, so much cancer
>>
>>11186793
A typical teenage girl wouldn't wear that because she's been told over and over that teenage girls should smell sickly sweet, not because those smells are somehow "masculine' in and of themselves. A self-aware and confident woman can wear whatever the hell she wants to. Same with a man.
