If you try to dress like an "intellectual" and youre not even attending university in either philosophy, political science, law or similar studies you just probably kill yourself already. OP all you need are a couple of well tailored trousers, a couple of sporty blazers that can match either trousers and some oxford\ brogue boots or shoes... You could also throw in some cardigans, nice sweaters and nice shirts. Always remember that when you dress this way it's best to stay away from shitty\ pop designs. You don't want to look like some highschooler who follows shitty trends. Check out Frank and oak, they have mediocre stuff. You could also check out GQ's site but try to steer clear from their urban articles(like the ones where they tell you how to wear timbs with a suit)
>>
Suit salesman here - "Young fogey" is the name of the style, not "Intellectualcore"

Invest in some Magee corduroy trousers,
Barker or Loake shoes (possibly churchs if you can afford them)
a jacket and scarf by Bladen (or maybe a Barbour Beaufort)
a pullover by Peter Scott
a cap by Olney (or otherwise by Stetson - possibly bugatti)
a tweed overcoat is also a fine choice, matched with tortoiseshell glasses.
A peterson smoking pipe completes the look.
>>
>>11000375
Look around outside, what colors do you seen green? Brown? Blue? White? Maybe some red flowers?. Theres your color pallette.
Materials should revolve around natural matericals: Wool, cotton, leather, etc.
Styles should be along the lines of fuction and aesthetic. So trousers shouldnt have a tapered sillouhette but a well fitted straight. Always button up shirts (White, blue, green) that are a bit loose but not baggy. If its cold wear sweaters, cardigans, sports coats, scarves, no swishy windbreakers or autistic leather coats. No jewlery or accesories, glasses if you need them.
But if you are a shit persom everything will look like shit. So go for the "spend more time studying than working out" look---slightly chubby and old.

Because the first 2 are street styles, worn casually.

Your "intellectual" shit is dadcore + fedoracore that you are going to use for what? Not even for job interviews that's a practical look, it's totally useless in this day and age unless you're say... A Harvard Professor. You're not, so why? invest in something else.

Also idk why are you asking... All the shit you need its right at the mall. It's not a complex style to arrange... at all...

Me too, but I also loathe the kids who show up to undergrad dressed like ITT. For me, it's putting a thrifted coat on over what I'd normally wear, which consists of thrifted shirts, sweaters, and pants.

Pretty much all of my students dress tryhard in one way or another though, or their parents bought all their clothes 5 years ago.

effay fems in the classroom though, tone it down because it's distracting (not to your neighbors, who cares) but to me

I thrift exclusively because I am not a "broke college student" but a person living on a grad student stipend.

I hear undergrads who make more money than me and have their parents pay all their rent bills and groceries complain about how poor they are they can only buy two racks of beer and an ounce of pot this month because they bought $200 kicks.

my tip is to go to boutiques and consignment shops as well as shitty thrift stores. it's true that at goodwill you have a chance at getting a $400 item for $3 but at a consignment shop you have way better chances that the item will fit, be in good condition, etc. and they are left unpicked by undergrads who don't know any better. Flip side is you pay $20-$40 instead of $3.

I spend less than a few hundred a year on clothes though so it's cost-beneficial still.
