For anyone looking for fragrance suggestions, give as much information as possible about what you want. Helpful info could include sex, price range, climate/season, use (work/clubbing/etc.), notes/families you like/dislike, and other perfumes you've tried and liked/disliked.

Something for going out scent. Summer. Night times.

sampled this about a year ago, thankfully in cold weather. even still, it is an aggressively dirty, musky, dank, leathery scent. i'd imagine you'd have to be older and rocking the right look/skin chemistry to pull it off—and that even still, it'd be difficult to pull off. more of a statement/concept fragrance than pleasant or pleasing.

Just bought l'eau d'issey, should get a lot of use of out of it here in Florida.
>>
>>10932122
Also I'm a 25 y/o male in FL. I work in an office and usually wear a little l'eau d'issey at work. I really enjoyed Tom Ford oud wood and disliked tobacco vanille when I sampled them but they are a little too pricey for me. I like cool water as well and used to wear drakkar noir when I was much younger. I'd like to have 2-3 fragrances and that will cover most situations, I only have the issey at the moment.

Just got back from a smelling spree.
>Egoiste
Smelled something that reminded me of dry saliva.
>Anteaus
Interesting, but polarizing
>allure eau extreme
Same allure drydown, funky opening. I prefer the citrus in homme sport more
>Ideal
Almond note was cute, but sweet and meh
>CH men
Nice but not worth the hype. Smelled like vetiver sugar and chocolate
> Amouage Lyric man
Smells like rosewater and grandma
>Prada luna rossa extreme
Nice with the juniper berry at the start, then dries to a toothpastey smell
>1 million
>ch men prive
>212 men vip
>212 vip club
>invictus
What the hell. These smell like a candy store and a chem lab had an accident. Horrible synthetic messes. Can't detect a single natural smelling scent on them.
>sauvage
Smelled like a cleaner and brighter bleu de chanel, but linear and extremely simple
>encre noire
All vetiver and iso e super. Novel, but boring
>encre noire sport
See above + vague citrus

TFW I dreamed of a fragrance in my collection that's as powerful as interlude man, sweet and dense and like leathery, but not cloying. TFW woke up and didn't have anything like that in my collection.
>>
>>10935614
>Sauvage

I was thinking about either buying this one for the spring or L'eau de Issey, but I hear alot that Sauvage by Dior, which smells pretty good imo is a direct copy of Mont Blanc Legend, Abercrombie & Fitch Fiercy and Blue de Chanel. Is it worth spending this much on an unoriginal smell?
>>
>>10932122
what's your age? I get the feeling L'eau de issey only works on 25+
>>
>>10935845
Personally I don't much like L'eau d'Issey and if the only choice was these two, I'd take Sauvage. But the name is an amazing pun.
>>
>>10931982
>arso
Lots of woods of different sorts. Almost burnt, like a fireplace. Pretty great.
>straight to heaven
Boozy ceder. Pretty minimal and short lived on me. It's like molecule 1 to me, but I haven't smelled it too many times. Molecule 1 took some time to develop for me. A bit sweet in after the drydown.
>portrait of a lady
VERY spicy, VERY flowery and powdery. Lasts for a long time and it's an awesome perfume. Just not for me, it's a bit overpowering.
>>
>>10935850
why is that? its really light
>>
>>10932240
cinnamon and rhubarb fucking shocked me first time. Pretty repulsive and something completely new.

I'm an early 30's male independent developer living in the rocky mountain area. I've pretty much exclusively used:

Jean Paul Gaultier, a few years, didn't like it too much
Kenneth Cole Black, loved it, used for over a decade

I'm looking for similar fragrances to Kenneth Cole Black that aren't so mall pleb tier.

>>
got some samples
Oxford and cambridge Czech & Speake
comes on smelling like a lavender oil burner, but the dry down is pretty nice, not that hard to wear desu
Heeley - sel marin
fucking brilliant fragrance, definitely has a time and a place though.
Bond no 9 -New york oud
way too much musk and not enough oud. pretty badly balanced imo. has potential but the under notes arent strong enough
Azure Lime - easy to wear and pretty pleasant but is this really a fking $300 fragrance? fuck sake
New York (nicolai)
very, very nice, and very wearable
>>
>>10936636
I find it fascinating, but it is certainly not a crowd pleaser. I included it because you asked for woodsy/earthy and it is very much that.
>>
>>10931982

its bad
>>
>>10936686
Also - impulse bought Zagorsk the other day
slightly regretting it but im glad to have it in my collection
smells like a pine forest
>>
>>10936723
Eau sauvage is a (the least bad smelling one imo but still) "old people smell" fragrance. Sauvage is a cash-in sweet whatever fragrance. They're both not very good.
>>
i usually understand the liking behind fragrances, even if i don't agree with it.
however, i really can't wrap my head around the liking of sauvage, or the comparison to a 'brighter' bleu de chanel.
bleu de chanel has a wonderful grapefruit, masculine, incense vibe, while sauvage just smells musty to me and I can't smell anything likable about it.

Bleu de Chanel Eau de Parfum
Encre Noire
Vince Camuto
Vetiver Guerlain
Terre d'Hermes
L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme

>>
>>10936804
If you avoid spraying the front of your neck or face, that should prevent most olfactory fatigue. Feels like a 3 spray frag to me, so if you are only doing one or two, try one or two more sprays. Outside of that, the nose is a funny thing. On fragrantica's longevity slider, even the beasts of legend like Joop! Homme have a handful of people voting "poor."
>>
Ok guys, since Spring is comming, I would live to hear your best spring/summer scents. Bonus points for long holding Scents, since all summer scents I got arent long lasring
>>
>>10936707
I thought the same the first couple times I tried it, but now it is one of my favorites. It's more of a tobacco scent than vetiver for me.

>>
Just happened tonight
>go out for a quick coffee
>spray on some old YSL La Nuit, not to waste the better ones
>waitress compliments it like three times

Why do only the most basic scents get appreciated in real life
>>
>>10937190
I own some, got it uber cheap because my ex had some sort of Sephora credit.

It doesn't have a long stay and isn't super memorable, but I like it as a sort of everyday scent, especially during the summer. Girls tend to prefer my other scents (YSL L'Homme, weirdly enough) moreso than the Issey Miyake.
>>
>>10937191

There's multiple ideas of how a fragrance can smell, sweet, fruity, musky, fresh, woody, leathery, like candy, spicy, oriental, flowery, you name it.
Go to some review site and look which ones have high rankings in the different things, try them out, not too many at once. Make a note of the notes you like the most and look for more fragrances that go in that direction.
Repeat until one day when you smell on a new perfume it feels like you just had a revelation from God.

I've always worn Hugo Boss (I have tried most of them). What is /fa/'s opinion on their frags? I'm just starting to get into it so I'd like some opinions if you guys don't mind.

I'm 23m, it's coming into autumn now, I'm pretty active, but in the gym it's usually just deodorant. I'd like to start my collection out small, maybe one for work (work as a personal trainer) and one for general out of the house (so maybe something versatile that I could wear out formally but could also wear during the day). Anything you guys would recommend? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

At the risk of being called an idiot, I need some help /frag/. I'm new to this whole thing and am curious about buying outside of department stores. Specifically Amazon, Fragrancenet, etc. I notice the prices are much cheaper compared to the department store prices (for example, Le Male is $90 at Macy's, but $50 on Fragrancenet reduced to $37 with sales) so I'm really hesitant to actually purchase anything. Is this shit legit? If so how? Or is it one of those "if it's too good to be true, it probably is" type things?
>>
>>10953674
Fragrancenet, fragrancex, strawberrynet, beautyencounter, are reliable

I'd only buy from Amazon if it's sold by Amazon itself. Or you can treat it like eBay, look feedback and seller rating and make a judgment call
>>
>>10953674
Do not buy on amazon. Even if it says its fron the original brand. Dont know why but there are almost most of the time fakes. The other internet stores you named should be valid, look for trusted shop certification. I always buy on parfum-group. (europe)

I'm looking for a spring/summer scent. Male, 25, Indiana weather so warmish, sometimes rainy springs and hot summers. I have a bottle of l'eau d'issey summer 2006 that I like a lot but don't love. I've always liked acqua di gio but it's a little plain and mall-teir. I like aventus too, but I don't plan on spending more than $100 or $200. I don't like most things with carraway, a powdery scent, or strong vetiver. In the fall and winter I usually wear Burberry London.

I got it as a blind buy when it first came out, unfortunately I lost it along with the rest of my collection when I moved.

I remember it was OK, I wasn't absolutely crazy about it but it wasn't a bad scent either. It's pretty much a summer only evening/night scent IMO, it's just a little too cloying for daytime use... but I suppose you can pull it off if you apply conservatively.

Is it a refugee thing to spray yourself 10-20 times? In Germany, literally the last 5 times I've been in a fragrance store, there's been at least one swarthy dude who's gone in to double-digits spraying himself around the head and shoulders.
Just saw two guys get kicked out of a Douglas for this. Maybe it's coincidence, but I've only seen this in the past couple months.

Also, it's almost always been something from the Dior line. Can't hold that against them I suppose.

Do you like it?

I'm relatively new to the whole fragrance thing, would appreciate some suggestions.

I'm a dude, 33, I tend to like bigger, bolder, sweeter, spicier scents. I also love marine notes.

My favorite at the moment is Creed Imperial. I love the sweet, but not too sweet, citrus and fruit notes, as well as the subtly salty marine notes. I get tons of comlimepents on this one.

I like Versace Eros as well. Big fan of the fresh mint and vanilla notes.

I like, but don't love, 1 Million (the original). It's not something I'd wear on a date or a big event, but I wear it around the house and sometimes to bed. I like the amber and rose notes, and the sweet "bubblegum" scent, but it might be a little too sweet and cloying.

I like Creed Royal Water quite a bit, interesting mix of sweet citrus and basil, with a nice, woody dry down. I don't think I like it enough to justify Creed prices, though.

Creed Virgin Island Water is kind of fun, too, but for sure not worth 350.00.

I did not like Green Irish Tweed. Just smelled like a clump of moss to me. Wasn't a fan of Himalaya, either, had some similar earthy, green notes I didn't like. Silver Mountain Water just smelled like a blast of sour honey and vinegar to me, thought it dried down ok.

Aventus, I like, though I expected a little more, somehow. I expected a scent that's supposed to evoke a conquering emperor to be a little... bigger, somehow. Nice, but a little too subtle for my taste.

Amouage Jubilation XXV: Imordered a larger sample because people said you may need to give that one some time. Straight up smells like cheap Indian dollar store incense to me.

Any recommendations? Any other info you guys need? I'd appreciate any help, thanks.
>>
If my Luckyscent newsletter is anything to go by, looks like Volutes by Diptyque (both the EdP and EdT) is getting discontinued. It was a great scent ;_;7

If there are scents that people deem "spring" or "autumn" these may fit what you're referring to. But yes there are scents that work well on a summers evening. Sometimes the only chance you get to crack out some colder scents during summer.
>>
>>10936982
Same here, however i feel like its more sharp lemon / lemongrass with tobacco than vetiver. Saying that, it all depends on weather, temperature and environment as sometimes it feels almost too sweet, sometimes very dry.
>>
I tried to get into all these fragrances people rave about, but I just can't do it.

Dior Homme Intense is just too powdery for me. I don't want to smell like lipstick.
Midnight in Paris also is too powdery. Too much rubber smell.
LIDGE was okay after the 6 hour mark, but the first 6 hours I thought I smelled like an old woman in a fur coat.
Green Irish Tweed just smelled like leather and grass clippings to me. Wasn't my thing.
Tried Reveal Men by Calvin Klein because people told me I should. Smelled like the rubber balls from elementary school.

Tried the cheapies that people rave about, but I don't think they are all that similar.

Club de Nuit Intense Armaf is probably the closing Aventus clone, but I think the first 15 minutes have a vomit/rotten vibe going on.
Insurrection II Pure smells more like a cedar trunk than the birch I get from Aventus.
Silver from Al-Rehab starts to smell like floor cleaner rather than Silver Mountain Water.
Nautica Voyage is nice, I guess. For whatever reason I just don't like the sour apple type smell.
Rochas Man and Michael Jordan Legend don't smell like New Haarlem. They're not bad, but they smell closer to each other than anything else.

I think my sense of smell is broken.

Just happened to purchase a 100 ml edt and deo gift set today and am wearing it now. Woody fresh. On my skin I get cedar, patchouli, pepper, and vetiver, tied together with a fruity musk. I've seen this called generic by some reviewers, but i don't agree with that. Yes GO is super smooth in character and won't offend anybody, but it has a nice complexity and in no way smells cheap.

It can be worn for a variety of occasions. However, I see it more as a daytime / professional type of fragrance. Not necessarily my idea of a night / romantic scent. Will wear to work and while out shopping. This is an all-season type of fragrance in my opinion.

I bought the gift set for $90 using some store credit from an exchange. I see the 100 ml edt for around $40 online, which I'd say is an excellent deal for a perfume of this quality.

I bought a 60 ml Molecule 01 clone (Iso E Super) from an ebay seller, and it's great stuff. Never sprung for the real thing, but the clone is reportedly 20% compared to 10% for the Escentric blend.

The Iso E Super really layers well with woody and green fragrances. By itself I don't smell much beyond pencil shavings, but I like combining it with other scents. Not bad for $18 / 60 ml.

I just looked up some reviews, im actually sorta surprised that such a cheap and desu lynx-core style bottle has such good reviews

Guys is the Givenchy fragrance is any good? If so which one I should get?

Bottle is strange, yes, but the juice itself is very good

I want to smell gay without it being:

>Feminine
>A joke scent (i.e Secretions Magnifique)

Looking for a masculine gay scent.

There are several TL alternatives out there. After reading the threads, weighing opinions, money and pros and cons, I purchased LY and I fucking love it. It isn't exactly cheap, but like TL, it's a two spray max scent and lasts all day. And like many, I actually like it a little more than TL.

I was unsure about Rasasi at first but I am ultimately all about the juice, regardless of the brand, bottle, or source, so I gave LY a try. Arabs have been making perfume for a long time and I'm sure you've heard of brands like Aramis. I'm going to blind buy the Rasasi Tobacco Blaze and Rasasi Al Wisam Day in a few weeks on the strength of their reviews and my enjoyment of LY.

Was considering getting this one too. Is there any way to find samples of it?

Either way, let us know how it turns out.

Need a fragrance to daily at college. Or too rotate from my current collection.
Looking to be less than £25. I'm in England and it's late winter early spring. I'm male 19. I've gotten compliments from skinwear by ted baker, ck summer and boss by Hugo boss, so I guess I like those. Any suggestions? College has a suit dress code so I'm normally in two layers

25 quid isn't enough for any bottle but check out your local facebook decant/split group or something. You can get some samples, but they won't last you long.

I own and wear the Tom of Finland by Etat Libre d'Orange and have seen a lot of the art. I'm 100% straight and have a girlfriend but I still appreciate it.

I appreciate it for: 1. The fact that the guy can draw and 2. I just get a bit envious of the characters (i.e I wouldn't mind being fucking ripped and hung like hell)

And yes, I do know that saying "I'm not gay but I can appreciate gay shit" makes me seem gay.

So I was at that Saporra and after 5minutes of listening to a rep talk to me about cologne (never used before), I decided to buy the toilet de eau Drakkar for $70.

After using it for a week, I called and she's NOW telling me that the toilet brand doesn't last for more than 6 hours. Why the fuck would I buy this sit if it fades so easily?

What else can I use? I want to be the guy everyone says "OMG HE SMELLS SO GOOD (though it's too strong)".

I'm tired of having no smell

~$150 Spring/Summer
Daily Use
I usually use CdG Man 2 or Aesop deodorant as a fragrance in the summer

Looking for something subtle and intriguing, niche, and refined. Something females would be interested in and nothing too floral or citrusy.
