Whatever dude, listen, no one ever said that /fa/ had to be full of wannabe fashion designers peddling ridiculous concept clothing that no one will ever actually wear.

>>10835594
Thought it was Jessica Jones villain
>>
>>10835253
You're thinking about this whole thing wrong. Very, very few people even in fashionable circles in fashionable citiea buys runway designer gear. That's not the point of runway fashion.

Runway fashion is for designers to show off high concept looks and abstract thinking about where clothes are going. Some details may get watered down into certain aspects of made-for-market clothing, but obviously not all.

>>
>>10835295

Unfortunately, since Jeremy Scott has made Moschino very very very very obnoxious, spoiled rich kids with too much $$ will eat it up.

I hate to say, though, if the clothes were in less obnoxious colors, I would kind of enjoy the concept.

Your average consumer will buy into the permanent collection basics, accessories, bags, and cosmetics that a brand might also produce in order to attain some form of the fantasy presented on the runway. A girl from suburbia can't afford the $3000 Dior dress but she can pop over to Sephora and buy the same shade of Dior lipstick they used in the show, or buy herself a Dior wallet from the department store. Even with Rick Owens, what's everyone on /fa/ buying? It's not the draped metallic leather tunics, but mostly the shoes, jersey t-shirts, pod shorts, etc. People bought their own little piece of that fantasy because they probably saw the runway show all over the internet and thought, "hey, I like what this guy's doing. It's kinda crazy, but there's some wearable stuff here and there." The really crazy pieces that never hit the shelves are for the serious collector who has built a relationship with the brand/designer over the years and gets invited to order such pieces at trunk shows and such, those people can be kind of eccentric like they invented baby carrots or something. Those pieces might also be sent out to fashion magazines to be photographed in editorials, which someone will see in the magazine and then might check out the brand's offerings on ssense or something to broaden their fashion horizons. Nobody would look at a runway show or buy fashion magazines if every model wore leggings and ugg boots.
>>
I honestly believe that London and New York FW have been incredibly disappointing for multiple seasons now. Tokyo and Paris are the only big ones that actually manage to meet (my) expectations, Milan often is hit or miss.

>>10836065
The vast majority is being sold. You simply dont see these pieces at your local mall. The only things that arent being sold are the really extreme pieces, but those make up for 1% of the collection. If they are made by the 'right brand' then they are almost always being sold in sales.

Runway exists for inspiration, to sell ideas and explain the concept behind a collection. They also have artistic value, just pay attention to some of the venues. High fashion is way more about single pieces than it is about entire outfits. When you see a catwalk show youre not look for outfits to buy, but for single pieces that might serve as an addition to your wardrobe. Be it a pair of shoes, shirt or coat. Buying an entire outfit is an option, but many people simply lack the confidence to do so.

>get money when nobody buys anything
The sales-people at my local Prada store tend to tell me that I am one of the few people there who actually buys pieces from the catwalk collections. Most of the money is made by selling shit like bags.

The catwalk collections give the brand a certain reputation and make it possible for the brand to unload shit loads of overpriced garbage. See all the big French and Italian houses. Hermes probably sells more shitty belts, LV more branded trash bags and Burberry more 'Made in Taiwan' raincoats than anything else. All you need is an 'exclusive' reputation and all of a sudden people will fight over your shit. Keep in mind the vast, vast majority of the mankind (including new money families) sees designer-clothes as a status symbol. And thats the thing: As soon as your brand is a status symbol you can do whatever the fuck you want. Catwalk shows help to uphold your reputation and pull in new gullible retards.

This thread is a disgrace, its sad the majority of this board doesn't even know what runway shows are about
>>
>>10836065
>what is the point of art?
>>
>>10836572
I know; most would rather meekly ask which Vans they should get, or some shit.

Not to mention that a lot of kids here think it's cool to be "anti-art."
>>
>>10836572
go ahead and tell me that this isn't meant to be worn and is a source of inspiration blah blah

yet these shows are all ready to wear, so you're wrong
>>
>>10836618
So, what's your problem with these shows, then?
>>
>>10836618
Am i claiming this isn't ready to wear? A lot of items on shows are wearable. Some of the more experimental items won't sell good, but it's still there to tie the whole show together.

I'm actually a locally known live painter and get invited to literally everyone's fucking party. Even the artiest are full of people wearing the streetwear and millennial core that you faggots don't understand because you sit here wanking at runway models instead of actually living life.

No one wears this bullshit

Cardigans also fall under the category sweater. You can literally buy it at H&M womens department.

I'm not saying the fit is bad, I think the joggers and shirt look good, but I think when it comes to JW Anderson WOMENS is considerably better then MENS.

>>
>>10837056

>>
>>10836065
>how do the designers or models actually get money when nobody buys anything?

the models get money for sleeping with Hedi. Hedi gets money for sleeping with Karl. Karls gets money for dressing rich old women who have no purpose in life

>>10836297
>The really crazy pieces that never hit the shelves are for the serious collector who has built a relationship with the brand/designer over the years and gets invited

You can literally buy all the runway pieces in the Paris/Milan/London stores after fashion week. You don't need "special invite".

ofc you caan buy it, no one stops you from buying fleece pants and pink fur coats, but the main objective of these garments is to show off the artistic and technic abilties of the designer and brand, its like doing an interesting gimmick just to show off your skills. A collection without these garments would be bland and boring, ofc people will lean more to more conventional garments due to their versatility as this dude (>>10836297) explains it

damn, you ignorant plebeian faggots now really rustled my jimmes, nobody cant be this stupid, i cant comprehend how some of the many kids here even get to dress socially acceptable
