they took that runofthemill athletic shoe look and made it even more convoluted to the point that its interesting; everyone has seen shit like this >>10755041.
its the same thing with a shoe like the 998, there's random design elements everywhere and the colors are pretty much all over the place. so much shit is catching your eye at once. rafdidas kinda take it over the top with seemingly random use of color along with a whole bunch of weird features and contrasting textures.
