Okay, I swear to god I'm not trying to bait, but I know some people are going to hate me when I say this:

What's the practical point of buying super expensive sunglasses?

Buying the expensive clothes I can understand, there's materials and structure and shit that goes into it, but... Sunglasses? Nonprescription sunglasses?

What's the draw of spending $500 on shades? Is it just for the brand/bragging rights? Or is there something I'm not getting?
>>
I spent good money on some prescription ray bans because my sight is absolute shit.

It was a good investment. Now they are scratched to hell though and I don't want to spend on another pair
>>
Idk man, I'll never forget when pitbull? Said "I never buy expensive glasses because they'll fall off your face and get run over" cheap glasses are the way to go
>>
>>10681441
huh, design?
>>
I bought a pair of 150$ prada shades and they're much clearer than the shitty gas station ones I was using before. I'll be honest I have no idea what goes into making them, but the glass vs. Plastic in the lenses was important
>>
Luxottica is an italian company manufacturing glasses/eyewear for upmarket brands like prada, d&g, armani as well as the ray bans and they are all made by the same people in the same factory. Quality is the same and price is controlled centrally to fit whiting the brand scheme. If design is what you're after, go for it but be prepared to pay some bucks. If the quality is what you looking for, try finding some more niche companies specialising in making just the glasses.
Personally I was looking for a rayban wayfarer style but for much less and found that polaroid is doing some nice frames and lens colour combinations. Instead of 200 i paid 45.

Just get new lenses? Keep the frames
>>
>>10682319
>>10681449

Any decent optician should be able to just pop the lenses right out and get a new pair cut. Will be pretty pricey tho.
>>
>>10682312
>>10682313
this right here is really important. you could try to find brands and online stores not owned by luxottica if you want better price/quality ratio.
>>
who /persol/ here
>>
>>10682450
Ye boi
>>
$5 Gap black wayfayers knockoffs for life.
>>
>>10682312
Yea, almost all the sunglasses are coming for two factories in Italy (apart from China cheaps). The quality of the lens doesn't really change after 80€, and paying more than 150€ is only for the name. I would say around 120-130€ you can find anything great.

What is pitbull doing that causes his glasses to just up and fall off his face?
>>
You can get pic related very cheap. They're RayBans model RB2140 901 50:22, green lens. Do an eBay search, they're pretty nice too.
>>
>>10682554
>more than 200€ for a pair of sunglasses
>not expensive
>>
>>10682823
Nice pic bru
>>
>>10682833
since when were raybans 200 eurobucks
the only reason why it would be over 200 is due to prescription lenses
>>
just get an exact copy on aliexpress for $30. they look 1:1 and also have decent protection from the sun unlike $5 knockoffs.

Optician here, Ray Bans are overpriced shit that everyone and their mother wears.
RB does have very poor quality, our 1€ frames have the exact quality without even joking. The RB emblem on the side gets really fucking nasty after wearing it for a few times without proper cleaning, and I can tell you noone that doesnt has an ultrasonic bath can clean them properly.
Tommy hilfiger, Gucci, Versace, all these other brands have higher quality and better looks.

Never pay more just because a frame is "handmade acetate" because it is always 'handmade'. It is no different than other acetate.

DO NOT EVER EVER get quality frames without quality (prescription) glasses. You will look like the fucking biggest joke ever to people who know about quality glasses. What are quality glasses? Thin and barely any reflection, and if then a green reflection.

Another tip, never pay extra for that anti fingerprint and anti water coaxing because it literally makes no difference.

RB Clubmasters are literally the best frames however.

Never use those alcoholic cleaning pads to clean your glasses, they do remove the coaxing. Before cleaning your glasses with a tissue or whatever do rinse off any dust with water, otherwise you will scratch your glasses.

Protip to clean glasses: Dishwasher without any lotion with water.

Im high btw so excuse my cancerous writing

Say literally one more time and I swear I will trace your IP address to find you so I can tear your face off.

that's what they cost on the site if you buy them with polarized lenses. With normal lenses it's still 150€
