Okay simple question does this battery need to be removed asap.

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Okay simple question does this battery need to be removed asap. cause I think its starting to leak acid, and that can damage vintage motherboards

and after I desoldered it , how can I clean up the board and prevent any damage in near future, also will a 386pc work ok without this battery

Yep. Need to be replaced asap. Just solder a new batterie between the joints. Also clean the pcb with Isopropyl alcohol (also asap).

Pic related: a brand new batterieholder. Also avaliable for vertical holding.

2 things to bear in mind when replacing a CMOS battery on old motherboards - 1: Old-ass CMOS batteries were often rechargable, so anything you replace it with should be too. Sticking a Lithium flat cell in there will not end well.
2: Once you detach the old battery, assuming it still holds a charge right now, you will default the CMOS settings on the board. Now on newer machines this is a minor inconvenience, on old machines, it can be a nightmare. If it is bootable right now, get into the 'BIOS' page and make a note of all the settings. You might have to manually re-enter them once the new battery is in place. Depends on how it was originally designed.

By-the-by, you can still buy modern equivalent batteries to directly replace the one you have. Check Farnell/Element14 or similar sites (I mention E-14 because that's the one I use myself and I know is US as well as UK based, or RS or Rapid in the UK, I have no idea where to go for minor electronic parts in the US other than E-14).
