Hey all, I'm new to this board, and I'm thinking about starting a woodworking side business.
I'd make various basic furniture pieces and small made-to-order things, birdhouses, cat trees, dog houses, anything else I can make at home without too many tools.
So my question to all of you is, what do I actually need to buy to get started?
I've used to be in a carpentry class back in high school, and I was certified for a few years, so I have a cursory knowledge of shit, but assume I'm retarded.
If you are building bird houses make sure to use a proper screw brand like mcginty

>I was certified for a few years
you were a certified carpenter for years and you don't know what tools you need to build a birdhouse? what exact sort of certifcation are we talking about here? something off the back of a snack container?

More, please!
Also, is there a sticky with this information?
I don't want to have a useless thread up :)

Also, I didn't pursue it after high school, so my know-how is super rusty.

Nigga, you still make bird houses with powertools if you have them. Hell 10 minutes with a box joint jig and youre done.

What I really want to know is what should I buy?
Which jigsaw is best?
Which bandsaw breaks down more easily?
Which handheld sander/ beltsander?

>decent tablesaw (hybrid)
>decent bandsaw
>hand tools
>power tools
Just start off with a vise, a drill press and a solod workbench and get what you need as you go along.
