>Last step: hammer in screws

I'm not particularly toolsy, but hammering in screws seems like a bad idea. Should I:
>A. Follow the directions and go for it
>B. Pull out some nails and use those instead
>C. Pull out a drill, drill holes in the desk, and screw the screws in

it doesn't say screws in you picture.
typically these are panel pins
sometimes it comes with a little plastic thing for holding and spacing them properly.
did you lose them? are you sitting on them?

screws will annihilate whatever melamine veneered chipboard you are screwing into.

Trust me, I would have thought it was a weird idea too, but the picture is a screw and the bag with that number on it contains screws.

That's strange weren't there any nails provided with the furniture, maybe it's just a typo on the instructions.
>>

That is a ribbed nail. Usually several in a small bag.
>>

Go to walmart and buy some small nails. They are cheap to buy.

what a gay ass desk. also cheap shit desks like this come with those pressed board panels that cover the openings and add stability.. those are always nailed in with little nails provided. if it says screws then youe chink manufacturer of the desk fucked up.. post some real pics of this shit and not the instruction manual. post the panel that needs to be put on post the hardare that was in the bag.. provide something!

Do a google search for 'ring shank nail'
>>
>>1228757
ok wow that's dumb.
presumably this is the last step, thats all you have left and you haven't used nails anywhere else.

they are supposed to be panel pins, not ring shanked whatsoever, none of the ones i've seen anyhow, and i never saw a fucking nail in my puff that had a screwdriver slot in a huge fucking head! i can't tell if those are rings or threads by the angle but i agree with you that is a fucking screw.

presumably the manual printer fucked up and whoever was putting the kit together either looked at the manual or the parts list was equally bullshitted.

either way screws are a no go. go buy some panel pin nails, or i guess glue it and clamp if you want to live dangerously!

the back panel is required, its the only thing providing any rigidity. triangles are strong, rectangles aren't. the panel is rectangular but provides at least two diagonal members to make kind of pseudo triangles and shit.

You guys and your inside-the-box thinking. The panel that the screws hammer has its grain to the inSlide. Nails would be useless here.
