Fpv ftw! No meat no mess. Then they can use something other than paintballs. Pilot from a bunker broadcast from drones. Hire good pilots to act as team spotters/media department. That way targeting opponents cameras is tactical for battle and screen. Dominate the photage dominate the game.

No, too big and too expensive. We may see high performance drones in the future though.

Im gonna tell you straight up not only is this exciting as fuck but it will be the lamest fight ever at the same time.

It should stay remote only for pilot safety but have some sort of crash test pilot to see any damage they would of taken, i dont think diy will be for along time just looking at cost and wide technical skills of these guys, it took over a year to build

The fight was delayed till september as the arena they chose was not up to the tonnage of a fight, no live crowd at all they are going for maximum safety specially since its the first fight between robots

I dont know. I tried to start a monthly battlebot fight in my area. Even went as far as to require lead batteries and bought 3 electric wheelchairs so i could help someone build one to fight mine and nothing...

One thing I really like about the US robotis how accessible it is. It basically made with already existing, tried and true parts. Even the weapons tested, with the exception of the paint cannon, are "off the shelf" parts. Anyone with enough materials, time and money really could make one.

Thats an interesting point. Theres many machines out there that would trash these competitors. I think the point is that they have a humanoid form. As the battlebots of old can attest, humanoid is not always the best design. Most notably, in military applications, nothing is even remotely humanoid shaped. The only advantage of humanoid robots is the ability to use existing tools that humans use without modification.
