I need to make something to unplug and replug my internet remotely and be as small as possible.Any ideas how? I'm no engineer but if you guys could point me in the right direction that would be amazing
>>
>>1227744
You are not precise. Also, that is probably NOT a solution for your real problem, whatever it is. This is probably best fro you - enter your router's IP in the address bar, log in and reboot it that way
>>
>>1227746
This isnt for remote booting
This is for cameras that my friend put up
>>
>>1227754
How often do you need to reboot them? Can't you just put them on a digital timer that reboots them every X number of hours/days or whatever?
>>
>>1227756
The aim of the game is to get past motion activated cameras that are connected to the internet. No cameras and I can eat whatever I want out of the fridge without fear of judgment from my roommate
>>
stick a picture of the kitchen in front of the cam, then eat as much as you can
>>
>>1227762
I'm pretty sure anyone careful enough to set up cameras would notice food mysteriously vanishing whenever the internet turns off.
>>
there is a device that the sell at home depot that is used as a timer to set off power to a plug, they use it for light fixtures, but i guess you can work around it to set off the power to the internet modem or something
>>

Holy fuck my years on TOTSE are useful again

Okay you're going to want to cover yourself in a space blanket and move slowly and you won't trigger the motion activation
>>

lol. This is one of the most pathetic things I've ever heard of. You have got to grow a fucking pair my dude

Break the positive line in the router and/or modem power supply and run it through the contacts of a relay controlled by a raspberry pi that you can control over the internet If it doesn't come back up properly you'd lose access obviously.

if you have access to the router the cameras are connected to from your computer, you can create an access profile under "access restrictions" that denies the cameras access to the network per a schedule that you can create.

access.

Dude just spend a few days on eBay looking for deals on reputable routers. Research cheap good models. I got my Asus ac1750 for $40 because I waited and shopped around used listings on Amazon and eBay. That Asus NEVER needs to be reset, has terrific range, bandwidth and reliability and has tons of features even BEFORE loading openWRT onto it.
>>
>>1228054
That's a fucking great idea, and you can hide the relay behind the wall by wiring it into the back of the socket., Like I did with the growlights behind my wall in my college dorm
>>
>>1228054
This. If it's a switch/router you could probably just tie the output high, but a relay is much safer. Best go with a DPDT relay that ties both sides to ground instead of severing them. You'll probably only need to do this to one of the connectors, but it might take some trial and error to figure out which one.

>>1228105
A relay in the power supply would probably be easier to pull off/hide, but it's a little dodgier on the isolation side of things, and it's only subtle if the camera is the only thing on the switch/router. Also needing a µC or rapsi for this is fucking stupid, you can probably do it with an IR receiver, ultrasonic transducer, or something like that.
>>
>>1227762
buy the cheap dummie motion sensors and replace the real ones with the fakes.
>>
If you can remote into the router you can restart it, and you can also set it up for external remote access and do the same thing
>>
>what happened to all that food I just bought?

>No cameras and I can eat whatever I want out of the fridge without fear of judgment from my roommate

my roommate used to go home every weekend to have glorious sex with his gf, and he'd leave that fucking half-eaten pack of Oreos.

I never ate his Oreos when he was there, because that was his shit and I don't mess with someone's shit.

But he's gone for two days, and the Oreos would start calling to me, softly at first, and with more urgency as the weekend hours passed..."chocolately goodness... delicious cream filling... all in this pack.. waiting ...waiting.."

So I'd go finish off his pack of Oreos, run to the store and buy another pack, and try to make it look like the one he left.

Jesus H Christ if we had cameras all over the place back then I would have...

everyone in this thread is a fucking retard. use your brain. you dont need a fucking rasberry pi to solve this.
check out pic related. its a remote control switch that lets you turn power on and off. hell you could probably take it apart, fit it behind the outlet, and wire it in directly so there is no trace. i'm not sure how these things work but it might be infrared light so you would need to be in direct path of the sensor.
>>
>>1227744
You need a jammer set to jam wifi or a mini fridge in your room.
>>
How about just going to the fucking fusebox and flicking power to the room off?
Why fiddle with extra hardware when there is already a circuitbreaker in the system?

ITT Retards that don't know that you can log in to a modem (most of them) or a router and do a reboot. I bet most of you faggots think that Wifi is internet.
>>
>>1230022
Just performing a reboot isn't enough because it will come back online after a short amount of time. If his modem is modern enough, then it won't take long at all. Having to perform continuous reboots not only will be tedious, but also might put the camera into some sort of standby mode noticeable afterwards. Secondly, what about the people using devices on that same network? They're guaranteed to notice that their internet is down and are likely to suspect the fat bastard who likes whatever in the US actually has too few preservatives to not be refrigerated. Switching only the camera off is essentially OP's only option, and to do so without anyone noticing his modifications, has to involve either putting some sort of modification inside the router, or DDOSing the cam.

But either way he'll notice that the footage will be gone for a short amount of time if he reads into it, which he probably will when he notices that there's missing food, so OP might have to go into some pro software hacking to get the camera to provide repeated footage from just before the cam is disabled, which will be tough if the cam is aimed at anything that constantly moves, like a tree swaying in a breeze outside, or a clock. Falsifying that will require some smart software that can analyse motion patterns, or some sort of pre-programmed motion patterns that simulate the moving clock or leaves to match up with either end of the cut footage. He might be able to do that efficiently with machine learning, provided he gives the code a few pushes in the right direction.
>>
>>1230086
You might be able to turn off one or more switch ports that way, too.
>>
>>1227762
But your health, anon. Do you want to die by 60 years old?
>>
>>1230086
OP shoulda gave more info.
1. How good is his friend with computers
2. What time of day or night does he need the cameras off

If op's friend is not that good with computers, it shouldn't be a problem.

If op is eating at night when people are a sleep or when they are gone, it wont be a problem.

People buy shit a lot of the times and don't have a clue on most of it, how it works, or what you can all do with it.

the key here is having no evidence that you are fucking with said cameras, messing with the internet via a PLUGIN or other device is CLEAR EVIDENCE of guilt. Replacing the Power Adapter with a similar sized on that you can remotely interrupt is closer to the ideal. Most people don't bother to photograph and prove its the same and it'll be constantly plugged in and out without being thrown away if it shows that it powers the modem.

The problem is that OP isn't telling us where the cameras are in relation to
1) The Modem/Router
2) The power supply
3) The food/target/treasure
4) Money/Resources to Work with

If OP is soo poor that he can't afford food/vehicle to get food/scooter to move fat ass, then OP has only a few DIY choices

1) Cannibalize various electronics/trash to
a) Make remote switch to temp cut internet(assuming that cameras don't backup on site/show tampering like mine would/do)
b) Make physical remote method to interrupt internet connection/power to said camera's without it being obvious
c) Do the unexpected, get/rig climbing gear and crawl through a window/access point not normally available to get to goods and back without cameras detection.

At the least, learn to hack remote camera's on your network OP.

how about turning off the circuit breaker whenever you need it shut down?
>>
>>1230781
That's even worse than turning just the router off, he'll be turning off all the other appliances on the same breaker. On the other hand, he could claim that a power surge or faulty device tripped the breaker, though the missing oreos would suggest ulterior motives.

you could get a short extension ethernet cable and add a switch to the outgoing data wire(?) from the camera or the wire powering it (if it's not getting power from a socket)

you could have the switch in your room if you've got a long enough and thin enough to be discovered cable

for the obvious tampering with the cable you'll have to hide it stealthily somehow
>>
do you have access to the breaker box?
>>
For $10, buy a Christmas tree light remote controller. Wireless remote and turns off and on the power with the click of a button. That's what I used when the shitty cable company modem had to be unplugged then plugged back in a few times a day.
