hello I'm working with these headphone audio wires, and it seems that only the ends of it conduct electricity, if I wrap it around the jack it doesn't work. Is it some kind of insulation? If so, how can I get rid of it?

I had a similar problem with a PS3 controller charger, I burned off the insulation but using sand paper might work as well, depending on how thick the wire is. If you do burn it off then be careful about the smoke, I don't know if it's toxic, but best to be careful.

Don't you see insulation on it? LOTS OF INSULATION. Burn it with a lighter and/or sandpaper it.
Use the soldering iron to burn the insulation of on the end of the wires, ussualy works fine for me

It's enamel insulation.
Magnet wire.
Scrape it with razorblade or very sharp knife.
It'll expose the copper.
Solder it.
Have fun.

This, or more simply, use acetone (commonly used in nail polish remover) to dissolve the enamel. Dip the tips, wipe them off, done. Flame will turn the copper brittle and shit will just fail again. Do not use it.
