Hello /diy/
I'm trying to repair an old boombox, the "TCR-S90 II" by Sankei. This boombox has been rebranded a lot, so it has many namens. Since I'm new to electronics, I didn't even bother to repair the original amplifier, so I put one of those cheap Bluetooth amplifiers from amazon in it. This one to be exact:

Everything works fine, but since I'm not using the original amplifier anymore, I have to rewire the VU meter. However I have no idea how the micro controllers work. They Seem to be the "IR2E02" by "SHARP". Since it is a stereo VU Meter there is two of them.
Here is where I'm stuck. Do I need any additional parts? Can I just use the amplified output from the amp? How much power do the micro controllers need? I have a lot of buck converters laying around, but I'd have to order other parts.

Doubt those are micro controllers of any type.
Probably just 7 segment driver. like the LM 3915.
See how the schematic rubs up against these. http://www.instructables.com/id/Simple-20-LED-VU-Meter-Datasheet-Guide/
