I was given a small section from a maple tree that was cut down in my friends yard.
I cut the wood into planks and have them drying in my attic. I wanted to make a cribbage board from one of the smaller lengths.
>Maple tree was cut down 1 month ago.
>If the plank is 6" x 16" x 1" would I be able to use it without having the board severely warped?

1 month is too short a drying time. Come back to them in a season or 3. Google how to dry wood and learn how to set them up so they won't warp so much while drying.
several woodworking books I have mention one year drying time per inch of thickness

If you've got a fuckhuge microwave capable of holding it, you could try sticking it in a plastic bag, heat up for 2min at a time, empty the water out and repeat until dry
Until then, you got a while to wait
