What would be the best and easiest way to remove this type of logo / branding on a stainless steel water bottle?
Does it have to be perfect looking after?
Either way, some steel wool, some water and some time would do if nothing else. Try acetone or maybe alcohol first, screenprinting inks can sometimes be dissolved even when set. If there does not seem to be a material bonded to the surface then it is likely laser etched, so back to steel wool.
If you work with finer steel wool and then polishing material you should be able to bring the finish back or at least extend the flaw into a larger area that feathers out and becomes unnoticeable.

Scour pads
Also if OP were to do that, he would be better off using fine steel wool

You're welcome. Oh and put a shot of black in it.

Brass wire brush.
As long as you brush with the grain of the steel, it shouldn't create visible scratches, but will remove the paint.
try lighter fluid if acetone doesnt get it done.

I cleaned my stove with it, and some pic related. It removed all the labels too unfortunately

Will leave visible scratches unless he's able to chuck the bottle up into a lathe or drill press and spin it as he holds the abrasive to the bottle.
if you've ever tried to do a brushed finish on something you'll know the hardest part is keeping the lines straight. Almost impossible by hand, you'll need a fixture of some sort.

Chemicals, maybe, if it's just printed on and not etched.
Oven cleaner > brake cleaner > acetone > lighter fluid = naptha > goo gone > paint thinner etc.
If it's etched into the metal, put a sticker over it.
If it's printed/painted on, the best method would be to shock it off.
Put the entire bottle in a pot of boiling water for about 10-15 minutes, then take it out and immediately put it in ice water for another 10-15 minutes. Take it out, dab it with a towel to dry, rub a piece of blue tape down hard on the logo, peel the tape and logo right off.
This method works, it's free, and you don't have to clean chemicals off of something you plan to drink out of.

Boiling water might ruin it if it is a vacuum thermos.
This thread is a colossal waste of man hours. Fuck the thermos, drink out of it with your hand over the logo. Get a coozi, the end.

Brake fluid. That shit will even remove automotive paint.
